Makoto Shinkai's (creator and director of Voices of a Distant Star and The Promised Place in Our Early Days) new project has a website with a trailer (45 seconds, but better than nothing): http://5cm.yahoo.co.jp/

It is titled 秒速5センチメートル: a chain of short stories about their distance (my Japanese translation skills got "5 Per Second Sentimental," but I suck at kanji so far) and it slated for a 2007 release.

Anyone else excited?

I am Anime smile. I recently bought the Shinkai Collection from Best Buy and watched Voices of a Distant Star. It was rather impressive considering the guy did it almost entirely by himself. Can't wait to see A Place Promised in our Early Days

If it was "sentimental", wouldn't it be "センチメンタル" as opposed to "センチメートル"? I would translate the title as "5 centimenters per second." Although, I think it would be better to leave it as "Bousoku Go Senchimeetoru" or "Bousoku 5 cm."

Ah, thank you.

Makes more sense now . . . I really need that Japanese class this semester Laughing

I'm so stoked. Can't for this to come out. The Place Promised in Our Early days is my favorite OVA, and also I'm a big fan of Shinkai's work. To me I like his movies just as much as I like Miyazaki's movies.

I really hope Shinkai does a follow-up to Hoshi no Koe.

However, I might as well hope that I have the ability to magically shoot a billion dollars and a plasma-screen television out of my butt, 'cause it probably ain't going to happen.

Byousoku, not bousoku.
