Sorry i am still not sure about rule #3 but i will try to follow it as b est as i can.
Can you give me some recommendations of animes or mangas similar to these? The main character is careless, reckless, easy-goin, and or optimistic. The story's genre includes either humor/adventure/shounen or shoujo/romance. Storyline is long as in over 10eps long or over 4volumes long. Its an anime that you won't get easily tired of and finally you get hooked onto it very fast. Lol sorry if these descriptions seem so specific but these are the types of anime/manga that i've watched/read and liked: Chrno Crusade(Both) Black Cat(Both) Full Moon Wo Sagashite(Both) Shinshi Doumei Cross(manga) Pita-Ten(manga) Slayers(Anime) D.Greyman(Manga) Fruits Basket(Both) Kamikaze Kaitou Jean(Both) FMA(Anime) Thank you very much |

I think you should watch Outlaw star, it has a main character that fits your description to a T. Also the story starts off with action and adventure almost immediately. Now I am not postive that you will be hooked right away, but I was.
Now as to the story, in summary, its about an outlaw named Gene Starwind and his side kick Jim Hawking. The two of them are hired by a beautiful lady to be her body guard and to retrieve a certain cargo befor the pirates with magical powers catch up to her, as well as to find the ever elusive Galactic Leighline. However all is not what it seems and Gene and Jim quickly find them selvs being chased through space in the clients space ship with the cargo. Now I have purposely left things vague as to not give away any of the great story that unfolds. If you like cool space ships,a blossoming romance, and pirates that use magic, then you will like this show. Gene also uses some magic in the form of a caster gun that shoots magical shells to combat the pirates. Did I mention grappler space ships! Even if you do not the plot and story are still worth seeing. The show is 26 ep's long and iirc there are no filler ep's. I must say I watched the entire show in one sitting. It is an older title that can be bought in a box set for fairly cheap. I must say that I have not seen most of the shows you listed with the exception of Fruits Basket (all) Slayers (all) and the first five or so ep's of Black cat. So I am not sure how it will compare to the others you listed. I can say that out of the one's I did see Outlaw star is nothing like them. Having said that I would still recommend this title for all to watch. |

vision escaflowne and hunter x hunter, i think are the best fitting your description right now.
vision escaflowne: the story's genre is based upon adventure and romance. it's originality speaks for itself because you won't see anything like it. the story starts off with a girl named hitomi with the ability to see someone's future who one day was transported magically to another world who during that time was in war. she will encounter a prince named van describe as reckless and careless of everything just to gain power and a power to revive his empire in oppose of this dramatic events that will come. by the time you get to episode 4 it's basic logic that you will immediately get hooked. after each episode you'll starve for more and for me it was so exciting that i watched it all in 3 days and it's a whole 26 episodes. hunter x hunter: it's really comparative to FMA. and as you claimed the main character is careless, reckless, easy-going and optimistic. the story starts with a boy named gon who one day realize his dad was still alive and he was a HUNTER. (being a hunter in this anime doesn't include of chasing after animals and such genre. in contrast it's rather a man's hunt and everything falls dramatically). the story enclose around 5 characters who will try to enter the association of being hunters gon: is trying to become a hunter to pursue his father killua: being raised to be an assasin but instead he decides that he would become a hunter but the problem starts here. kurapica: is the only survivor of his tribe who was brutally massacred by a group who called themselves the spiders. and now he's striving for power to get revenge. leorio: his story is basic and only trying to become a hunter because a day his friend died and didn't have the skill at being a doctor but being a hunter will turn him around. hisoka: the dude is a psycho-fightsexual who money or anything else doesn't interest him besides fighting with someone who is strong. he's the creepiest and most violent villian you will ever encounter. and as a notice don't watch this anime in the dark because he'll creep you out personally. from this whole adventure you will see despair, vengeance, friendship, destruction, and the anime is rated mature. it's only flaw is that the beginning is really awful and not everything starts exciting till you get to episode 15 or so and it's a whole 92 episodes. one thing about hunter x hunter is that if you check out the reviews they'll tell you it's really addictive because after every episode you will want to see more. |

Easy going lead in an adventure/comedy anime, huh? Try The Irresponsible Captail Tylor. Taken from the encyclopedia entry on it: "Justy Tylor has no training, no skill, no initiative, or leadership qualities; in fact, he has nothing going for him except one crucial thing: dumb luck. This is his only saving grace, and it saves him from impossible odds, time and again."
I thought it was really funny, especially the first half (the second half gets more serious). Another good choice that's similar to Tylor is Martian Successor Nadesico. It was the second anime series that I collected (after Slayers) and it remains one of my favorite with its nice blend of comedy, action, and drama. Both of those series are 26 episodes long. They also have sequel OAVs (original animation videos) which I didn't think were as good as the actual TV shows. |

There's already a thread dedicated to this kind of... wait a minute, what happend to that thread? Anyways, I'd recommend Cowboy BeBop, its a story where you can just sit down, watch and have a good time; no getting intangled in the story so much that you can't engadge your mind for 10 seconds on the plot a la GitS

You might like these two:
Fushigi Yugi - This is about Mika Yuki and her friend Yui Hongo who go to the National Library, wind up in the rare book room reading a book and somehow both are sucked into the book. Yui makes it out of the book and for about 1/3 of the story is in a way the Narrator (the other 2/3s is Mika's brother, Keisuke). Mika stays behind and becomes the Priestess of Suzaku, who must make 3 wishes, hopefully using them to save the country against the evil clutches of another country. Part of the first half is Mika looking for and finding the Warriors to help her make the three wishes. The second half is much darker. Yui re-enters the book, becomes the Priestess for the enemy, becomes Mika's enemy, etc...Mika and her crew have to go against Yui and her group to get magical objects to help them summon the Gods because of problems in the first half of the story. It's very good, there is humor throughout, but there is also murder, rape and betrayals. Tissue recommended. Ceres - Which was originated by the same Manga-ka as FY (Yuu Watase). This is about Aya Mikage. She turns 16 and her life goes to hell. She finds out that she has a seperate being inside of her who can take over her body and morph it. The being, Ceres, has a serious hatred for the Mikage family especially Aya's twin Aki, who has some serious...emotional/physical feelings towards Ceres and Aya. There is also Toya, Aya's love of her life, who also has his own issues towards the Mikage and Aya. Again, very good, humorous (you may like Alex Howell - anime fan boy ), there is also murder, rape and betrayals of family and trust. Tissue recommended also. Both of these titles have anime and manga both of which are completely out so if you want you can get it all at once if you like. You might also like Martian Successor Nadesico - anime#42 |

Mai Otome would fit the discription of what you are looking for. It is also of a selection of genre that you are looking for. It is of a different mix of it though, so that may also be refreshing to you.
Also, you may want to check out Mai Hime as well, as Otome is more or less a sequal to Hime in my opinion, albeit they are tied together fairly loosely. Some may say its not a sequal, and that can be argued as well. Watch it and judge for yourself if necessary. |
