I recently purchased Karas, and I was blown away--such a captivating film, and a steal at ten bucks! I haven't seen an anime as engrossing or epic as this since Akira. And the amount of polish and production value that went into making it is astounding! However, I have a question:

http://shop.fye.com/product.aspx?sku=202521943&loc=50244

Note how there's two "Karas" listed. Now I know there's a second volume coming out, but the two listed at FYE and other sites are both "Karas: The Prophecy," with a pricier one listed for July.

What is this second one listed? There's not two versions, are there? No matter where I look, I can't find details about any other version coming out in July, and yet, another "Karas: The Prophecy" is listed on sites like Amazon and more.

So what's the deal here? Could somebody tell me what's going on?

Oh, scratch that, I figured it out. The second version is the UMD for the PSP. It must be taking them a while to remaster it for the small, small screen. I see. I had to do some serious Googling to get the lowdown on that, but it's solved now. Thanks anyways!

I've heard that it'll come out on September 26 in North America. It's a shame we'll have to wait so long (though I suppose it could be worse).

God, I love this movie. Anime smile

I believe Karas was a six-episode OVA, and the first disc contained episodes 1, 2, and 3.

So if anyone here cannot do math, the second DVD will be 4, 5, and 6.

I just watched the trailer for this anime and was blown away!

This anime looks so freakin' sweet that I have to watch it now! I wonder if they would have it uploaded on that crappy website that's got all that crappy pirated anime on it yet? Razz

I think you guys know what I'm talking about. Very Happy

Speaking of crappy quality pirated anime, I looked around online for the second half of Karas, since I wanted to see it early, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I'm already sold on buying it when it comes out, make no mistake; "The Prophecy" right now is my favorite movie, and I can't wait for "The Revelation." Still, I'd like to find out what happens next in episodes 4, 5, and 6, while I'm waiting for its English release.

You know, some people don't like these "piracy" sites, and I'm not going to mention any here. However, if it weren't for them, I wouldn't be buying the Gunslinger Girl trilogy, nor would I have ever bought Karas and Advent Children. Those sites are an excellent way to try before you buy, because if you find yourself loving the anime at crappy, streaming quality, you'll not be able to resist buying it in stores for stunning DVD quality and the full package. Those streaming video sites are the most effective means of advertising an anime company could ask for.

Honestly, if it weren't for those sites, I probably would've never looked to anime beyond the Ghibli movies and Otomo films that had already earned my admiration and respect.

EDIT: Hey, does anybody know what that song is that plays during the end credits? It's such a beautiful song, even though I can't understand the lyrics since they're in Japanese. It's the same song that's in most of the Japanese trailers for Karas that you can find online. I would dearly love to know what its name is.
