I know that there are so many topics about FMA so sorry if this one is stupid but im really confused. My question is how many volumes are there total of FMA? From what I know is that there are still a couple of volumes that still haven't come out yet. I just recently started watching it and the way it sounds like on some of the post is that the series already ended. IM SO CONFUSED

FMA has finished airing on a few networks, Cartoon Network for one. There is a time gap between 'air time' and 'release time'.

FMA ended in March on Cartoon Network. They are currently going back through the series but for people who watched it the first time it is just reruns, unless you missed a episode or two like me. Discs 8 or 9 came out it march and the next will come out in May. The movie, a continuation of the series, is scheduled to come out in October with the last disc.

All of the TV episodes have been aired on Cartoon Network.
The DVDs are still being released.
The Manga is still running and will probably go on for a bit longer.
With the show having been completely aired on Cartoon Network, that maybe why some people are saying that it's over.

The 'tins' are just a thing for collectors. You can buy the tin to store the volumes in it (I guess just to look good on a shelf) or the regular volume. Personally I don't buy the tins, so I wouldn't know what people see in them.
Someone else could explain this a lot better.
All right, now that you got me started, whats the deal with needing to buy the tins? I don't get it...I can understand the whole appearance thing, but is that it? Seems like a waste of money. A DVD is a DVD.
Sorry, I'm not much of a help in this area, am I? Ask Delta Kiral -- He's big on tins.

Funimation releases artboxes with wallscrolls, keychains actions figures, and other fan things. FMA got a Metal Tin and the Sound Tracks. Art Box Starter Sets are just a little motivation for collectors to get the whole series.
Does anyone know if a the full series will be released for this series? I put off buying the DVDs hoping for a complete collection.

More than likely, but it probably won't be for another two years.

Ok I guess I am the Tin guy.......(Not sure how that happened but hey whatever) anyways The Tins are just like any sort of collector box, they normally will hold all the volume in a series. FMA has three tins, First one holds 5, Second will hold 4, and the final tin also has 4. I personally buy the tins, because one they look pretty cool, secondly they (the tins) generally become extremely valuable since they are normally not a lot made. Case in point on Ebay the first tin, (which is the rare one I think) goes for 90 dollars. Some really expensive tins or boxes in past memory Cowboy Bebop Limited Case can Sell for 300-400 dollars depending on quality. Also the artbox (just the artbox, and bandana) for Samurai champloo was going for more then 100 dollars. I hope that helps clear some things, tin man out! <---- Did I just say that?
Till next time,
Delta Kiral

I dindn't know any of the boxes went up in price. I still don't like the FMA tins though. They just look bad IMO. But whatever floats your boat.
A local shop still has the volume 1 tin. I would pay the $40 asking price only if I knew someone was willing to pay me twice as much right after I bought it. But I don't so I'll just sit back and wait for a box for the complete series.

If you're the tin guy now, I guess I'm to blame for that. It wasn't totally baseless...
Quote: | I preorder almost all tins, or collector boxes as they come out. So even though I am behind on the FMA vol ( I think I have up to 7) I am still going to pre order the next box. I was thinking of getting the Eureka 7 box, but I don't know if it will become rare enough. I don't really have a lot of interested in that show. |
Sounded like you were big on tins

That explains a lot. I don't think I'd want to sell any of my FMA volumes though.

In away there is actually 14 volumes counting the movie isn coming out on the same day the last volume is released. but there is only 13 volumes of the show that aired on cartoon network so in away there is 13.

I doubt it. The series has 13 DVDs. They'd probably split it into two or three boxes instead of one big box.
