Is anyone watching VH1's new series Ice TV: The Cult S**t? It's a series about all kinds of odd stuff from back in the day. Anyway Ice T does a whole segment about an anime called "The Legend Of The Overfiend." It looked like a classic 80's anime. Thanks to this little segment I'm gonna have to check it out.

Just be aware that it's a tentacle-raping fest. The plot of the first OVA is pretty good, along with the music and animation, but I just don't like the crazy demon-raping and all that. Yeeaaah. |

Wow, if he can find a show like that, then anime's more popular than we thought. This should give you a little insight, but it is a tentacle rape hentai, as the others have been saying, so consider yourself warned. I've taken out the link, you can see it below. Man, I hate when that happens. Last edited by fighterholic on Sun Apr 09, 2006 3:56 am; edited 1 time in total |

Well, I checked that one first, and when I looked at how much content there was, I immediately knew there wasn't enough info, so I used the other one. |

Yeah, well, I could have done worse. But I wonder how Ice T could have come across this anime?

Ice T into hentai? That doesn't seem like much of a stretch. Demon tentacle rape? Is that what they meant by "SVU"?
Note: I'm not really dissin' Ice T. here. I've watched a few hentai in my day as well. Never watched this one though. |

All the more reason to watch it then (kidding). Anyway I'll take that in stride. Tentacle/demon raping isn't all that new to me (I've seen an episode or two of Cool Devices and little one shot OVAs like BioHunter) so I think I can stomach it. Anyway it'll probably be an interesting viewing, may want to watch it with a group though. |

Legend of the Overfiend is hardly an obscure anime by any stretch. It was one of the first tentacle-rape shows in the west, and despite actually having somewhat of a decent plot... Well, needless to say the content resulted in it being -banned- in Australia and it nearly ruined the UK anime/manga industry for a long time due to it's misrepresentation. In the US, it along with other movies like Akira, Ninja Scroll, Crying Freeman, and Wicked City gave way for the image of anime until shows like Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and Dragonball Z came to the forefront.

I doubt it's him personally, I'd imagine that they have a team of people (possibly people who have day jobs at sites like Retrocrush) that research the weird and esoteric from the niche fringes of cult pop-culture. EDIT: Not that I'm saying that the guy from Retrocrush specifically is on their staff, I don't know one way or the other, just people like him. |

What about Robin Williams? Didn't he mention some time ago when that he likes anime (I heard he suggested putting the Eva figure in One Hour Photo and he mentions "big anime eyes" in Robots).
