Okay, did I miss an announcement somewhere? Anyone know why One Piece is on in Naruto's time slot tonight when both my newspaper and my on-screen cable menu say a new Naruto episode should be there?

If you click on the TV Schedule on Cartoon Network's website for Naruto, you only get two listings, for March 18 and 25, both reruns. Which leads me to believe *#@$!! CN strikes again - stopping a series in the middle for no apparent reason and with no warning.

And that leads me to... uhhh, well there is a joke somewhere, but I just can't come up with one. The editorial "The Click" tells you that their is no new Naruto this week; Toonami has been advertising for the past week that One Piece was taking the 8 p.m. time slot. So yeah, I guess the memo must've missed ya Surprised Don't worry, though, it'll be back on April 15 with new episodes and a marathon.

So was there a new episode of Naruto today? Zatch Bell was on and my Guide said Naruto at 5:30 and 6:30, Zatch Bell was still on when I finished playing video games at 5:45... I had other stuff to do, but I remember seeing TOM, the toonami robot guy, saying that they will be back after Miyasaki month is over.... long story short, was a new Naruto aired today?

No, there was no new Naruto. it was 2 episodes of One Piece. New episodes of Naruto will resume after the Month of Miyazaki. There was an announcement about it made during the first episode of One Piece.

This kinda surprised me too. I sit down for Naruto and instead I get One Piece (definitley not what I bargained for). Looks like they neglected to tell everyone until they tuned in to tell em that Naruto's leaving for a month for Miyazaki. At least when it comes back we get a marathon.

One thing I've never quite understood is that Japan can write, draw, and voice 52 episodes of anime per year, without flaw, and yet the American companies can't ever seem to do the same, when all they need to do is the voice part. Sometimes an anime is off for a week here and there, like on a holiday or seomthing, but when they do, the preceeding or following week is always a double episode to make up for it.

oh thats easy to answer, the market for anime so like so totaly big in japan, and its got most of the adults hooked onto it. Where as in the US, its mostly children the main stram audience, where as the otaku will always be a minority. So as far as advertising is concerned its always gonna be like so totaly dodgy.

Non stop episodes is pretty unique to Japan. Very few shows in America, animated OR live action, go without a long break between seasons. Wish I had a reason why, but the best I can guess is that it has to do with production methods. It has nothing to do with how popular a show is or isn't, nearly all shows in America take long breaks between seasons. Hell, Adult Swim has some of the simplest shows to make, but they still go long periods between seasons, to the point that they make jokes about the shows being cancelled (how many final seasons of ATHF have we had now?).

not just japan. many asian countries are like that too. most of the time they don't change the time slot and there is no rerun episodes too. if you missed an episode, that's too bad.

1. This is CN's choice...Viz in late Feb, was dubbing episode 40+

2. CN is making up for the lost time with like a long marathon of IIRC were new episodes...

So you really have no point do you...

They announced a month of miyazaki for awhile now. I guess none of you figured it would take Narutos slot for awhile.

Does anyone know how bad the edit of mononoke will be?

Why would it be? As far as I can tell it's rated PG-13; all CN has to do (and what it did last time) is slap a TV-14 on it and it's good to go.

It practically justifies the ridiculous DVD prices. It's not like the US where every episode aires at least twice on network, and potentially hundreds of times in syndication if you're patient.

How do you know that?

How do you know that? I would assume that if they were running a marathon it would, like most marathons, be a repeat of probably the episodes after the Zabuza arc, leading up to the single new episode.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'd just like a source, it sounds optimistic.
