I haven't seen any actual official announement, but it looks like Disgaea has been picked up by Geneon.

http://www.rpgamer.com/games/disgaea/disgaeaanime/disgaeaanime.html

I notcied that on RPGamer yesterday, they have an english logo and the page says the anime is going to be published by Geneon in the US, now I figured Disgaea was going to be picked up due to popularity, but I didn't actually think it'd be nabbed prior to airing in Japan

To be honest, the show looks like crap. But I'm going to end up seeing it anyway. I have a Majin that could kill Baal (regular) in one hit, and a Netflix account. Of course I'm going to give it a shot.

Wow, can't wait till it comes here. I hope they keep the same voice actors from the game, though Laharl's laugh is going to get really tired really quick.

Assuming Geneon uses Bang Zoom! Entertainment, (or any studio in LA except for New Generation) the cast should be able to remain the same since, unless Gamefaqs is wrong, all of the actors are LA regulars.

Well, Geneon has been doing that a lot lately. Ergo Proxy, Hellsing Ultimate (though they did produce it), Shakugan no Shana, and Fate/Stay Night are examples of early licenses Geneon has acquired recently. Shakugan no Shana was licensed three months before it aired in Japan, Fate/Stay Night was licensed six months before being aired, and Ergo Proxy was licensed ten months before airing. One thing for sure is that Geneon has a fairly solid lineup coming into this and next year.

I thought Geneon was involved with the production, which means it's licensed automatically, isn't it?

Did you not see the trailer??I find it impossible for anyone to have seen the trailer and say it looks like crap. I'm not talking about story here. But this is a tv series. When have you seen a tv series, not an OVA, a Tv series, with animation that good. I don't know if that's just for the trailer or what, but I was impressed.

I have to agree on the animation thing, I'd be very impressed if they keep up the quality of what we saw in the five minute teaser trailer for the entire run of the series, which I believe is just 13 episodes. Honestly though, I've seen TV series with good animation in the past, Air suddenly comes to mind, but they tend to get a bit lax during about the middle of their run, so we'll see how Disgaea is treated probably sometime late this year or early next year when the domestic DVDs hit

As long as they keep Etna's English voice I'll be happy. I have no experience of the Japanese version of the game since it wasn't included in the EU version.
Best thing about the promo DVD is the postcard of Etna and Flonne wearing each others outfits Smile

Disgaea was part of that same big announcement-fest that saw Fate/stay night, Hellsing Ultimate, and Ergo Proxy officially unveiled. Given how all of those titles were licensed by Geneon from the very start of their production, this really should be no surprise.

I can agree with that. Seing as how Genoen has a habit of immediately asquiring the licenses of new anime properties that they know already has a huge fanbase, I would probably be expecting them to realease Digaea here in the states sometime early or late 2007.
