Since most anime are low budget, there are not a lot of good action scenes, I’m not talking the type when two people taunt each other for half an hour and do a few moves once in while, I’m talking about very fast paced type where you almost lose track of the fight.
Like in “Ghost in the Shell” where motoko fights a tank single handedly. that kept me drooling for an hour.
Is there any anime out there with that kind of fighting scene? I prefer gun fights. ( now don’t tell me go watch “Noir” … 2 girls pointing guns up every now and then with no facial expression, and every one drops … whats with that? )

Final Fantasy 7 - Advent Children has some awesome fighting that will certainly satisfy your craving. They fight with swords and guns most of the time, so as long as you don't mind some other weapons in there, you should be golden.

Cowboy Bebop has really good fighting scenes. Mainly gun but some hand to hand and some sword fighting are present and even a couple of dogfights, in space and on planets.
Vampire Hunter D has mainly sword fighting but a couple of people use projectiles. Bloodlust looks a lot nicer but the original movie is awesome as well.
Oh and DragonBall Z because it is Super Saiyan Kewl! Just Kidding. I really liked the fighting in the first 3 DBZ movies though. None of that "they move so fast we can't keep up with our eyes" crap. nice choreography IMO.
I've never seen Tenjho Tenge but I heard it contains real good fight scenes.
I dunno if Gungrave will do because it is very heavy on the story but the Gunfights are pretty cool but I dont remember if there were too many of them. The flashback story is one of my most favorite anime stories ever told.
I think Ninja Scroll, The movie and tv series, have good fight scenes. Very gorey as well.

Final Fantasy 7- Advent Children alllll the way!
It has superb figthing scenes with swords, guns and bikes.
The graphics is A-grade and the fighting is really fast paced.
Perfect movie for all fast paced-action anime or FF fans outthere.

a show with good fight sequences that people often overlook is Airmaster. Each of the fights are very well coreographed, and very well paced, i still think this show has some of the best fight scenes ever. Also check out the first 2 episodes of Genesis Survivor Gaiarth. Other good ones are Macross Plus, and Detonator Orgun.

Hajime no Ippo, not only a lot of fights, but content wise an extremely well done anime. Very cool fights, very fluid animation. And the characters all rule.

Samurai Champloo, not only is their enough fighting to keep you awake but the liquid-like movments keep you on your feet, the fights don't stop in the middle for talking, and when they do it's about something important (unlike Naruto).

For new current series (still being released in Japan) check out my current favorite Bleach. It starts off a little slow for the first 10 episodes introducing the cast but picks up with some impressive melee and spiritual power battles. The story is also well done too and there's a multitude of good characters.
Other recomendations:
Gungrave has some entertaining gunfighting action. The storyline and characters are also top notch too. It deals with two men's rise to power in a mafia-like organization and what it does to their friendship.
Gunslinger Girl is another good example of a good gunfighting anime but is also primarially a character driven show. Despite this you won't be bored as the storylines are quite entertaining and action takes modern tactics into account.
As a whole though I'd have to say Read or Die/ROD the TV have the most creative action scenes in an anime I've seen so far. The main character's power is the manipulation of various forms of paper. Doesn't sound interesting? Well, that's what I first thought, but you should see what the Paper Masters can do with the stuff.
Also if it's bloody chaos you're looking for, look no further than Elfen Lied. While it's full of gore and prolonged nudity and is definitely not for the kiddies, it balances this with a really interesting story, good characters, and humor.

I know you've probably already seen it, but Rurouni Kenshin has some fantastic fight scenes (I'm thinking of Kenshin vs. Saitou at the start of the Kyoto arc, in particular) -- some of them still blow me away even though the series is coming up on ten years old. The few fight scenes in Samurai 7 are also pretty cool; I actually enjoyed that anime more than I did Champloo

I think Samurai Champloo has good fighting scenes ( the best according to me is in episode 15, where Mugen and that ninja woman defeat those bad guys ).
Last Exile too, I like the inter ship combat in the 1st and 2nd episodes and the battle between the Silvana and the Urbanus.
Ninja Scroll, decent fighting between the good and the bad people. Not to mention how those ugly monsters are being defeated by 1 man with a blade.

I liked Noir, it had some good kill scenes. Particularly the bit with the popcorn. But anyway, I'd say Texnohlyze had some good action scenes. Ichise was pretty damn cool, once he got used to his artificial limbs. Oonishi was also badass.

Pretty much my favorites have been stated once before. Like, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Gunslinger Girl, Rurouni Kenshin, FFVII: Advent Children, Naruto, Bleach, etc.., so I feel no need to go into depth on why I feel this way when people had already wrote my opinions in earlier posts.
Though, maybe I skipped over it, but Neon Genesis Evangelion also had some great fighting scenes as well. I say this is a great anime for fight scenes because, if you saw the End of Eva, then you would certainly agree. Especially the part where Asuka has to fight the new Eva types in her unit was pretty awesome, made me a little queasy and gave me a nightmare one night from the gore content (and the fact they were feasting upon her Eva) I thought of this part to be the best in the whole movie, probably the real reason I watch it again and again every once in awhile.
Now, for some whacky, yet, awesomely cool fight scenes, I would have to say FLCL. I would have to say, having a guitar that could shoot bullets would be a pretty dang nice weapon, and Haruko makes everything so fun while she fights, so it's hard to say that this show doesn't have good fight scenes.
Trigun also had some awesome scenes. I especially enjoy the first episode, it really got me into the series with a proper opening to do so, meaning, not too heavy on the real storyline yet, and with some humor and good ol' beating the bad guys stuff.
I would go into detail about my more favorite anime, such as I stated before, because I adore them so much, but everyone has seemed to do that for me, and it's not needed. These are great anime to have your eyes feast upon it's delicious animation.

Naruto during its prime had godly actions scenes. Come on people, let's not be blinded by the current fillers and take a look back at episodes 130-134: Naruto vs. Sasuke. I don't know if you "lose track", but the fight scenes sure as hell make you "lose breath".
But since you prefer gun fights, go with Cowboy Bebop like many people have already said. It has some classy, James Bond-ish but not as cliched gun fight scenes.

For gunfighting ones I suppose Outlaw Star fits the bill and one not to known about Sunabouza very unique gadgets/guns fighting but not exactly based on fighting for martial arts realistic ones i'll have to say Grappler Baki,Shura no Toki, and Get Backers although Get backers has a little of the powerups/bragging but not much of it and is near the end.

No question about it, DragonballZ has a lot of good fighting scenes in it. Also, look at Cowboy Bebop, Ikki Tousen, and Tenjho Tenge. I have seen/own these titles. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
