Anime becoming too prediable lately? The 100 Rules of anime. All jokes aside, these rules apply to so many anime I know of that. So if you want to talk about cliche of anime, this is it.
Make you think twice about anime. My friend sent me this, worth a good laugh Last edited by darkhunter on Thu Jan 12, 2006 3:58 am; edited 2 times in total |

I'm suprised that this is as far they got into about high blood pressure. There should defintely be a law stating that all anime characters have extremely high blood pressure and even the slightest cut, if it can draw blood, the blood will spurt at least 3 feet. There should also be a law stating that whenever something dramatic happens and there is a silence amongst the characters, either a close up shot of the character's faces or a group shot of the characters will follow. This is in turn followed by the wind blowing (resulting in movement of the anime characters hair/clothes) regardless of whether the characters are outside or in a closed room. Other than that I thought it was pretty good and got some good laughs out of it |

That's pretty funny, hadn't caught it before. Some of them seem like stretches though, but there are some pretty accurate things in here.

The original list, which are the first 46 listed on the one in the first post, are based largely on 80s shows like Fist Of The North Star, Macross, and Ranma. That original list was made largely in the early to mid 90s. The various additions to that list that are all over the internet tend to be less professional and intelligent, and thus, I consider them non-canon. Not that it really matters anyway.

And I just thought of this one this morning. They should also have a law stating that if a boy and girl trip over something they will land on top of each other within kissing distance. This is especially prone to happen if there is previous tension between them and/or hidden feelings. As a result of the fall there is a 75% chance that one of his hands will be on one of her breasts.

i think they forgot a few.
law of conservation of muscle mass. anime characters, can have incredible physical stregnth without having to work out a lot or gaining little if none muscle mass. they dont even have a lot of muscle. this especially applies to girls in harem animes, such as love hina. law 2. at least one character, usually the main, MUST BE JAPANESE, even in a non japanese setting. if the main character isnt japanese, then someone else close to the main group of characters is law three, called rule of medieval japanese weaponry, has several sublaws 1. all animes must have at least one character that is not only japanese, but wears traditional clothing and is skilled in kendo, and possesses incredible fighting skills. 2. if most characters in a series are fighters, then one must use a katana. 3. the character is a girl most of the time, who is usually somewhat naive. law 4. an anime has to have a main femal japanese character who wears traditional clothing AT LEAST ONCE, even if the setting of the story isnt in japan. this is rare, since most animes have a girl wear traditional clothing MOST of the time. law 5. natural eye colors consist of all colors in the visible spectrum oh yea, besides law 5, i swear that i made all of the other ones up BY MYSELF |

Is there a Law about the "First girl the boy character meets will always be the one they end up falling in love with?"

Honestly, yes, anime has become rather predicable. Too me that was a big let down considering I started watching it because of its' diverse views. Now that I have watched like 50 different (full titles) animes I have started to see there is a relative rule to anime.
It is either a Happy ending or there is so muchc depresion at the end you want to kill the creator and yourself. HAHA For real though, From the shows I have seen so far I'm starting to greatly lose intrest in anime in genral. It is entertaingin for a while. Then I'm just lik, ok this will happen then this then this then this, and it happens! Even though I do love watching them for their artistic value, most animers just are not worth my time any more. I'm curently watching the Samurai X/Kenshin seires, I;m at episode 60 or so. I must say I realy love this series for many reasons, but the main reason is that: I have no idea, can't predict, what will happen next. That is what keeps me intrested in a show. If i lose that intrest in a show then in reality there is not point to watch the show other then to I saw it. So, when you can predict a show 70% of all animes dosethat make animeworth watching? I have to say, yes anime is still worth watching. Just for the fact that there are those shows that hit you with the unexpected. Find those shows is a different story. So is anime over-all boring? Yes, at times it can be. For that raeson is it worth giving up? No, I dont belive it is. We all watch these shows for our own reasons. If you find a story that you can relate to, not so much in the placeing, but what happens, can you feel me, that show is worth watching. Anime is generic, in my oppinion, because it is geared twards a certian audience, just like every other TV show that has ever been made. I actuly just went back and read The 100 Rules of Anime. I would laugh ever time i read a rule, mostly because it is ture. Last edited by 2Real on Thu Jan 12, 2006 11:09 pm; edited 2 times in total |

Some law I thought stood out:
It's funny, stupid.... yet sooo true.
And I thought Clark Kent's glasses disguise was bad.
What fun would the series be if a guy like Vash was brought down by a crappy no-name bandit.
There should be, or Long-lost Childhood friend are destine to be lover when they reunit as adult. A gag that actually ran in Genshiken. |

What? No rule of diminishing ethnicites or American military overaggression? If I missed them my bad.
Nice to see what I always called "The Triple Rule" there.oh, and #95 . . . sick, man. Just sick. |

LOL! Yes, it's not the first time we've seen something like this... And it applies to every other media. So why not make it a general question for all forms of media? Obviously not every single anime can be completely unique and stand alone (God I love this phrase.. Guess where?). If mini-skirts are "in", then companies will make many variations of the same type of clothing we categorize as "mini-skirts". Same for anime - if harem anime is "in", then obviously there will be variations of harem anime in order to reap profit. Does it need more explanation than this? PS: That 100 rule thing is OLD. |

Not so far from the truth, actually. Personally, I got a few laughs out of the list, so I'm actually glad it was posted. The long-timers might want to chill out a bit about "old news" since not everyone here has been chatting online about anime since day 1. If every forum tried to prevent every topic from ever being posted more than once you'd run out of topics pretty damn quick. |
