Yesterday i asked my local barnes and noble to order "Even a monkey can draw manga" for me,I mistook it for a reference book for drawing.... but when i actually looked it up on the internet it says it's rated "MAture" and i panicked a bit because my parents don't want me to read inappropriate things (i'm only 14) and i don't want them to get the wrong idea
is there any appropriate content (i.e. pornographic images) or anything of the such? i'm fine with violent images and ecchi to some extent...
if not, why is it rated mature?

You basically get two wannabe manga-kas taking you and themselves step by step through the making of a manga. So the over-arching story is about the creation of their manga. But since it's a parody there's plenty of exaggeration. Which means you get to see stuff like the two men posing nude. Their ding-dongs are fortunately hidden in dark shadow but one of the men is almost as hairy as a monkey which creates a gross-out comedy effect. Anyway, it's quite funny actually but I guess only you can gauge your parent's reactions.
Might as well warn you that most manga drawing guides do have at least some nude drawings. If you want to learn how to draw people it's best not to be squeamish about it. Tell your parents it's all for the sake of art.

i personally thought it was hilarious. it seemed more like an insult to the manga industry. like stating how the foundation of modern manga was just built off of stealing from Osamu Tezuka and Katsuhiro Otomo, and there's a chapter talking about how ninja manga are really just a way of ripping off the psychic genre. in between all the comedy though, it really does give some good drawing tips.

That's what you call a parody. It's poking fun at itself for humor and irony.

Which is pretty much true. While it is hilarious (one of the funniest things I've ever read), alot of what it makes fun of is true.
As for content, let's just say there's a entire chapter devoted to exploring subliminal sexual messages within manga. I could see alot of parents would definitally freak if they saw it, so I'd caution you.
