After reading oh my goddess, i checked the release dates at the manga section. And what happens? Shocked I was totally shocked when i saw that the manga actually has it first release in 1988, and it is still running!

Is it really someone out there that has followed the whole series for such a long time? i mean, almost 17 years, say that i read the first volume when i was 15 in 1988, then i would be over 30 if i still collect the realeses, i mean, that is too impossible!!

or is it normal, am i just a complete noob to the manga world?

spoiler[anyway, i wish that the series will end soon, can wait another 15 years just to see how the series will end. and it's soo irritating and frustrating that the distance between keichi and belldandy isn't getting any shorter because of the brat skuld. And if skuld is gone, banpei the stupid robot would interfere an almost romantic part isntead, and if it is not banpei, suddenly a demon brat would interfere, what the heck, i just can believe that someone actually can live up to the frustrations in 15 years, how the heck is that possible? ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGG, what the heck, they have been together over 4 years at least. Give me some romance dammit, am i the only one who thinks that the romantic parts are only at the beginning at the series, at volume 1 and 2?

GIVE ME AT LEAST A TOTALLY ROMANTIC STORY BETWEEN THOSE TWO WHERE KEICHI CONFESS HIS LOVE TO HERE WITHOUT HESISTATING. And then the story can still continue with treaths to their realtionship, or what?

Anyway, i guess that i'm talking a lot of nonsense right know, but man...AM SO INTO IT!]

Fortunately, it is; and, unfortunately, you are. Wink Take a look at the list of longest running manga (thanks to Samurai CDZ).

spoiler[Long time ago I've read a post elsewhere that Fujishima-sensei said that he would continue the series as long as possible till the day he couldn't draw anymore.]

spoiler[WHAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S NO FUN AT ALL!!!!!! darn it...can you recommend a manga series which is as cute as oh my goddess, which is shorter and more love developing? And would eventually have a happy ending? And which has a last chapter out there of course I am suddenly in the romantic mood

It should be "Hajime no Ippo" which is listed in Samurai CDZ's post.

I know that "Kinnikuman" and "Captain Tsubasa" series are also long running manga besides that list.
(I didn't post it because couldn't specify accurate number of volumes etc.)

My sincere and deep respect to Osamu Akimoto, who has been drawing and scripting Kochikame for 29 years and 145 volumes! Sir, you are either a genius or a dull desk worker, but most certainly a TOTAL MANIAC!!!

i can't imagine reading a romance-type manga for that long with no resolution!!

i feel for you man. i used to love ranma and i bought and re-read it again and again until i found out what happens. spoiler[there is no clear resolution even at the end!!!!! they "sort of" come to an understanding they love each other but THAT IS NOT ENOUGH. i don't think there was even a kiss. he didn't turn back into a guy forever... NOTHING. i just flipped out. i still re-read ranma now and it's good, but i can't imagine going 30+ vols and getting no real conclusion to something i have been waiting for]

that's why i like series like love hina. it never "jumps the shark". in fact there is a volume or two where they are boyfriend and girlfriend and it is sooo satisfying having them be together and the series not concluded.

series from Katsura, I's and A.I Video Girl — are cool and have conclusions but you never see the main couple be together. all you see from him is angst, more angst and rarely a scene of extended normal happiness.

i am currently loving Love Roma — where in the first panel the guy asks the girl out and then the fun begins! In other words, read Love Roma!
