As a fan for the first movie (didn't like the second one and haven't seen the third one) I'm quite excited to see this news. I've been wondering if they've still been making Wong Fei Hong flicks for the past few years. Granted, my knowledge of Asian cinema is still quite limited, but I just haven't heard of any more in recent years before this one. I doubt that they'll be able to have Jet-Li do any voice work for this movie.

Tsui Hark has translated live-action to animation before (A Chinese Ghost Story), but the two titles were very different, so it will be interesting to see how he handles this story.

Nope.

And we rarely diverge from anime news. But sometimes we include an item that isn't directly linked to anime.

this was one of those cases.

It technically counts, since Hark worked on the Chinese Ghost Story cartoon distributed by Viz, and was attached to a number of live-action anime properties before being kicked out or leaving.

There are at least 6 Once Upon A Time In China films. Jet Li starred in 4.

The selling point of any kung fu film is obviously martial arts. This is true even for animation. And unless the animators can meet the requirement for great fight scenes, this project sounds like a colossal waste of time, money, and effort.
