Not that it's a big deal, but it's an odd change none the less. Then agian, I haven't read the manga myself, so... Yeah.

Another fine example of Tokyopop's Lame Altered Titles department hard at work. :/

Could this be the first time a company has actually changed the name of a title to Japanese to sell it? My how the market has changed. Anyways, it's a stupid decision (not to mention a stupid title).

Because there's another manga named Karin. Or at least, that's what I suspect. -t |

Maybe it's to differentiate it from Kamichama Karin?

And now for them to totally alter the script.

Is that the same one that Theory mentioned? I once glimpsed a manga on the local store's shelf that I thought fit the description of Kamichu, but it seemed rather super-deformed and I think the title had more syllables... |

She bites people and has a huge super deformed head, looks pretty chibi vampire-ish to me >_> |

Why don't they call the manga Karin: the Chibi Vampire!? Then both parties are happy with such a name change.

Which Tokyopop has licensed and distributes in the US, which is why they are renaming the vampire Karin Manga. Guess it's so stupid people don't get confused. |

Most likely. Fans of KK might think this new book is some kind of sequel or spinoff, which could cause quite a bit of confusion. (Much the same way Fullmetal Alchemist fans are confused by Full Metal Panic.) Personally, I don't get the idea of putting a Japanese word in the title, as it doesn't go with the rest of the title and has nothing to do with the original. It's annoying enough to have people on forums put "Kawaii" and "Neko" (Beh, so I'm a hypocrite.) in their sentences randomly. Seeing it on a professionally published book hurts. They could easily replace "Chibi" with "Mini" or "Tiny". In fact, I think "Tiny Vampire" has a certain ring to it. Ah well. |

Hmm, if they change this. I wonder what licencers will do with Maburaho and Maboraba if they change Karin.
