James Cameron is doing the press junket thing for his 3D Titanic documentary and, of course, the fans wanna know: What's up with Battle Angel Alita?

The AICN article points out that Alita will be Cameron's next film project, if he isn't working on it already, it says. Cameron also makes it clear that Battle Angel would require the budget defeceit of nine third-world countries to work properly.

My question is: would you, the anime fans of the world, warm up to this? Even in the anime world, Battle Angel is a relatively obscure property. What about the mainstream filmgoers? Would Cameron just be better off throwing his money into a garbage disposal?

Speaking for me myself... No, probably not. I don't really have the finances or the interest to chase down and check out every little anime theatrical release or adaptation that comes out. Just like an action movie buff won't bother to see every action flick that comes along, I won't bother to see every anime film. And Battle Angel is just obscure enough, and since I'm not into the series already... I doubt I'd pay even the Saturday matinee price to go out and see Cameron's take on it.

I'd rather watch Malibu's Most Wanted. Confused

It depends. I like Battle Angel. So it would really depend on things like casting and storyline. (Meaning: will it be at least close to the storyline and will the cast become the characters.)

But....I don't much think it'll happen. I don't really believe anything AICN says anymore. Too many rumors with no real fact to back half of the stuff up.

Id like to see it,I like Battle Angel Alita and theres no doubt Cameron is a decent director. He seems to have a genuine interest in anime as well. Also although I like Battle Angel Alita I dont love it so I wont be to bothered if he plays about with the story line a little ect, whereas with say Akira I would be mad.It will be interesting to see who he casts,Johnny Depp for Dr Ido?

Don't believe the hype, people. Jimmy says he has something every week, but the truth is he's too busy playing with his Titanic toys to make movies again. And thanks to him, Terminator will be ruined, along with Aliens Vs. Predator.

Whazzat? T3 ain't his fault. It ain't. Same with Alien vs. Predator. He's gone on record saying that pitting the Aliens against the predator... "is like pitting Frankenstein against Dracula. It kills both franchises." Or something.

Last I heard he was prepping True Lies 2, but whatever. I don't think it matters if he's adaping Alita, Ikkoku or the phone book; what matters is the movie he makes. Just as From Hell started with a brilliant comic and became a bad movie, the source material has little bearing on the movie.

I dont see why Alien Vs Predator would kill the franchise everything based on the idea ie the Darkhorse Comics, the pc games and the Arcade game has done pretty well. But yeah T3 isnt by him so it will most likely suck same story diffrent time *yawn* now on the other hand a Terminator movie set during the Future war would be cool if they get a decent script for it.
