I remember being really bored when I first played FvZ on the Dreamcast, thinking of it as a failed action game. I came to appreciate it when they had a pair of machines at Anime Expo's arcade and realized it's a more of a competitive arcade fighting game. Once you get into it, FvZ and GvZG are fun on your own, but it's real blast with a few friends. It's too bad there's no X-Box version, this is perfect for Live treatment.

In order to get something out of the game you kinda have to be well-versed in Zeta. A buddy of mine got the game and liked it because he enjoyed FvZ, but he's never seen Zeta so to him when all of the characters were yelling at eachother it just seemed random. I thought the alternate story paths were a good idea but since they weren't expanded upon they left a lot to be desired. Also, was the opening for the review inspired by Dane Cook?

Anime-based games are the best games ever in the history of games. Why have Halo, Final Fantasy and Mario when I can play a Gundam, FMA or Inuyasha game?

Actually here's the ultimate. Pulling a heist in a giant robot and your monkey is manning the base ship.

Anime games actually have a lot of problems. For one most of if not all anime games assume previous knowledge of the source material, so they don't bother explaining anything. Also since they work as fan pleasers developers also try to make the game accessible to fans who may not play games that often, so the games don't have a whole lot of depth. Some anime-based games are good, but on the whole developers think "well if I add in this from the show/comic then they'll like it." so they wind up being lackluster. Also I don't think a lot of effort is put into most because they assume that the fan-base is the market and since it's a related product it will sell.

No, AUEG vs. Titans is an entirely different game that featured mobile suits and a storyline only from Zeta Gundam. Mobile Suit Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam (which is in fact the original title) is the third game in the series and combines the previous two games, Federation vs. Zeonand AUEG vs. Titans, into one game. For the record, AUEG vs. Titans was never released in America.

I completely agree. That Cowboy Bebop game that was supposed to come out last year has been described by many sites as "a cheap fighting game which just happens to have popular anime characters thrown in". I played Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam at EB Games the other day and couldn't stand it for more than 2 minutes because of its lackluster gameplay and repetitive fighting techniques. It's like they thought "Hey, these guys already like Gundam, so of course they'll buy this game!" I still remember Journey to Jaburo, where it took about 12 hits from a beam rifle or saber to destroy a Zaku. I'd rather play REAL games, like Halo, Doom, and GTA. They are far better than the crappy FMA and Inuyasha games.

And speaking of the Inuyasha games, has anyone noticed that one of the promos for the newest one has an announcer who mispronounces everything? He calls Inuyasha "in-you-asha" and calls Bandai "ban-die" (he makes it sound like it's 2 words).

I read that AEUG vs. Titans was barely different from Fed vs. Zeon.

Pretty much, only with more suits and ones that transform. But it's still fun as hell. Just remember to play it with a buddy.
