failing to Cast the original voice actors of Isaac and Miria was kind of a let down and it was so obvious too.
Other than that Durarara!! part 2 is great.

I've not heard the dub yet but who did they get to do Miria and Issac anyway? Hearing a ANN reviewer have issues with this recast, as well as the above post is upsetting. I wasn't thrilled at the turn of events and now it sound like they didn't even try to kind of match the other dub just makes me wonder about Anplex decisions in general

Not too surprising they didn't get J. Michael Tatum and Caitlin Glass to reprise their roles. They almost never do any voice work outside Funimation. The exception was Glass' role in Street Fighter 4 as Cammy (and Ken's wife, Eliza, in the OVA), and a few other games.

I'm hoping that a budget-friendlier series release is upcoming eventually. Any rumors on that front? A year ago, I would have pre-ordered the three sets, but the financial worm has turned and I donated my Durarara Dollars to the Red Cross' Japan relief fund instead.

Part of me knew Glass wouldn't be reprising Miria. I still hoped though. Damn.
Still, it's fun to hear Stephanie Sheh once in awhile. Wonder how her interpretation went down.

Wait, so are you saying Sheh is the new voice of Miria?

I didn't look at the credits for episodes 10 and 11, but our encyclopedia does say she did it.
Now, I haven't seen Baccano in a wile. So its a bit hard to compare. But Stephanie as Miria seemed OK. No Caitlin Glass but better then whoever did Isaac. No offense to the actor. But he's no Tatum.
I remember J. Michael Tatum's performance cause I've been hearing him a lot since then. From podcasts and voice work.
As for part 2,
"Many have claimed that Durarara!! decidedly drops off in its second half, but episodes 13-17 show little evidence of that."
I kind of agree with the other people. I enjoyed part 1 more then this one. It was still fun though.

I agree with this review completely. The first half of the series set an epic tone of great twists and character development. The second half did a good job of keeping some of that going, but the story aspect just left me wanting. It felt like the series was building up to an epic clash between the major players, but it just fizzled out in the end. I am definitely hoping that more anime comes out in the future or at the very least the manga and light novels get some kind of US release.

The novels confirm that Baccano! and DRRR!! share the same universe (heck, all of Narita's works share the same universe apparently, it's a rather weird world) and there are more cameos that get a passing mention in the novels.
I'm one of the people who loves this show but still thinks the first half was the stronger part (partially because I loved Baccano's pacing and P.O.V. switching and DRRR just does less of that in general) but I'm still happy to be buying the sets, the series is definitely worth a re-watch.

I think people are freakin' crazy. The second half of the series is no where near as frenetic as the first, but that it somehow makes the series crap because of it just boggles my mind. Was everyone upset at the pacing, or the fact that there wasn't a bow wrapping up the series, or what?
Are these the same people that eat up filler episodes of Naruto and Bleach? The same people that somehow made it to the end of Inuyasha?
I found the entire show highly entertaining, its one of my top five rewatchable favorites of all time.

Yeah I agree, I loved Caitlin and Tatum as Isaac and Mira and it just doesn't sound like they should. I still have to buy Baccano! but I do love Durarara to pieces.
I do think Kari Wahlgren totally deserved the props she got for this performance, she was brilliant and I loved her work on this. Everyone else is spot on, but she just gets Celty, and that's what I love about her.
All the plot twists are great too, I can't wait for May to come!
Anyone who complains about the price is too stingy. Sure we get more episodes on a Funimation disc, but Funimation rarely puts the music videos for the opening and ending songs on their discs, and Aniplex America is a new company so they have to sell it higher to make money and they don't distribute at retail yet.

Um, Theron, when you mention "Shinra" in the review, I think you mean Masaomi Kida. Shinra is the doctor.
