Ahh, how nostalgic; this topic initiated one of the first dialogue between abunai and me.
To put it simply: even though Japanese are very open (if not too open) to sex and sex-related industries, they are quite conservative on the issue of divorce and prefer not to discuss it openly. |

I wondered the same thing--I was expecting something seriously disturbing when I was watching the episode, but I didn't see anything like that. Why divorce is treated this way, I don't know. . .maybe it's considered a personal failure/point of shame in the way that debt/bankruptcy is. This is just a Wild-Ass-Guess.

I think it's funny that an episode like that is supposed to be controversial but really isn't when compared to the whole premise of the show; incest. Cultural differences are strange huh? I love Kio Kaze though, one of the best series I have seen in a while.
