At first I wasn't too fond of Naruto on Cartoon Network, in fact i hated it. My friend has been recording the series so I decided to check it out, again, and now I'm hooked. I still dont agree with Naruto's voice and the fact he keeps saying "believe it" is kinda annoying but I still like the show.

I don't really like long TV series but always enjoy the movies, DBZ and Inuyasha have some of my favorite movies which IMO the series have too many boring/unnecessary episodes. Are there any Naruto movies? Any planned DVD Region 1 releases in the States anyone know about?

There are two movies so far. The first is out, the second won't be for a few months yet. Neither have official domestic released planned any time soon though, and likely won't for a while, since event the first one has minor spoilers concurrent with about episode 70-80-ish of the tv series.

Surprisingly, the Naruto dub turned out fairly well, save for Naruto's voice and the fact that they overuse that stupid "Believe it!" line.

Also, neither of the Naruto movies are being released in the U.S. anytime soon, but the TV series will be released staring next year (both edited and uncut).

And you should really change the thread title. It sounds really dumb.

Well, since Naruto is the main character in the series, I don't know if I can buy fairly well. I would say disapointing.

It's all good though, I'll be getting uncut DVDs anyway since they'll be english and japanese dubs available on the disc Wink

Besides of the dub of Naruto (the character) the only thing I’m disappointed with is the "funimation" opening and closing of the episodes. I loved the original openings and closings and funimation made them have "eXtreme" rock music instead. Although I would imagine the reason why they are changed is because they couldn’t get the rights to the songs; Although I have no factual evidence to back that up. Funimation could have done it just to make people like me angry. Evil or Very Mad

Shows how much you know. Viz has Naruto, genius. Also, they didn't do it to piss you off or because they couldn't get the rights to the songs. They did it to appeal to the little kids watching Toonami. The uncut DVDs should have the original OPs, though.

The new openings are no more appealing than the original (although the first Japanese ending kinda sucked, but some of the later ones were geat). They made new openings because they enjoy wasting money and screwing around, there's no ratings boost to attribute to it.

Aw I love that ending. I agree with that the first openening wasn't that good though. I llike most of the other ones though especially Asian Kung-Fu Generation's.

the americanized naruto was pretty good, in my opinion! i'm so glad they didn't change the attack names like they did in the manga ( Crying or Very sad ) and they didn't change the names!!

but i really hate how naruto keeps saying "believe it!" and they changed the intro & ending songs. but overall, it was okay. for me.

Okay so whats the difference between the edited and uncut Naruto? Is it going to be like the DBZ (Yes I'm comparing Naruto to DBZ like other people do but this is a reasonable comparison) where the uncut only shows like 1 more minute, where its just scenes with blood in them? I like the intro, maybe because I havn't seen the other intros though.

Well no Im not changing the subject title because
1.I Dont Know How and
2.Screw The Title. You Guys Got The Point/Question

They should change his "believe it" to "beliee 'dat." Not perfect, but better. Wink

As for "what was edited", not a whole lot, but stuff that should have been left in anyways. Basically a lot of attacks that should have had blood in them did not in the Viz version. Less than in Bebop or FMA, but there nonetheless. Other than that it was relatively unedited, but you'll want the uncut versions anyways because they'll have the vastly superior Japanese soundtrack.

Oh please! The only alternative to creating new openings and endings would be to either heavily cut the originals to the point where they wouldn't be worth keeping, or keeping them complete at the cost of extra time edits to the show. Personally I'm glad they chose to create new music in favor of the other alternatives and while it's not the best music in the world it's still come across as rather "Naruto-like" (though that's not saying much, the Japanese music explored just about every form of music except for country). It could have been far worse, it wasn't a rap and it wasn't some drawn out jingle made to spell out the story and introduce all of the characters. Though, I'll admit, I don't understand a word of the music (are there words or is it just yelling?), but that's true for the originals too. Wink

You forgot about the profanity.

If you can edit a post, you can change the title. You may want to take note of that box that says Subject when you edit. And the title matters a lot. Your thread title is some vague thing about Naruto - you can't tell what the thread's about without entering.

The new songs aren't horrible by 4Kids or Tokoypop standards, but I still would have prefered that they left edited versions of the original songs. They had cute visuals and many were solid listenable songs. I don't like when US companies monkey around with the original music, any more than I like when they monkey around with the original dialog track.

Profanity is debatable, since while they certainly do use words that would directly translate to profanity in English, there's a lot of leeway to either side when translating it. I would expect the proper subs to have more spoiler["craps" and "shits"] in them I guess.
