...and I'm not sure what manga series to collect next. Those of you who have read love hina, what other series did you enjoy?

Depends on what you like - if you want to try another one of Ken Akamatsu series there is Negima which has gotten positive reviews by most of the people that have read it.
Or there is A.I. Love You which could be seen as a forerunner to Love Hina. Personally I have enjoyed A.I. Love You and I would recommend it to someone who liked Love Hina. About the only warning I have in regards to it is that much of the computer subject area is dated. |

For starters, I'd recommend (Magi Master) Negima, Ken Akamatsu's most recent work, still going in Japan and being released domestically by Del Rey. It can be a bit confusing because of the extremely large cast, but its well worth it. The basic plot is that the young (10 years old) Negi just graduated from Wizard School and is now a teacher at a school... where is students are all girls several years older than him. You get various story arcs branching from there, such as a vampire student who wants to get revenge on Negi and protecting someone from a rival magic school during a field trip.
Another harem manga you may like is Ai Yori Aoshi. I personally didn't like it (the anime version, I haven't read the manga), but other harem fans seem to. The main female (Aoi) is a complete opposite of Naru: she is sweet and kind and will do anything for her main. Aoi is the reason I didn't like AYA, as she is overly subserviant. She's a pre-made wife that will do anything for Kaoru (the male protagonist). If you read scanlations, I recommend Ichigo 100%. It's much more realistic than the previous two manga or Love Hina. The main character does not live with any of the girls, he is not abused to a point that would kill any normal human being (Love Hina), and the girls are fairly normal high school girls (no pre-made wife, ninja girls, etc.). What I really like about this series is that it isn't painfully obvious who the main character is going to end up with at the end. I have my guess, but I'm not 100% sure (I've only read up to volume 11 out of about 15 volumes). It starts in the characters' last year of middle school and follows them through at least a good chunk of high school. If you want classics, try Rumiko Takahashi's Maison Ikkoku. I haven't read it myself, but it may be worth a read. |

I'm a big Akamatsu fan, but I very much disliked the first three books of A.I. Love You. They were so bland it was painful. Things finally started picking up in book four, so if you're as disappointed as I was, it pays to stick with it. |

Did you perchance read the name of the person I was quoting? It wasn't you; I deleted their post for listing, as is standard practice. Had you listed in the opening post of the thread, the thread wouldn't be existing today or would be locked. |

I"s which started release 2 months(?) ago, in my opinion, is worth checking out.
I guess it would somewhat fall under the harem category, although could easily be argued otherwise. However, I think this isnt necessarily a bad thing. I liked this manga because the main characters did not fall head-over-heels for each other all the time, and there were a lot of conflicts. Guess it is more of a romance drama, than love comedy, such as love hina, negima, ai(kind of) that were previously stated. |

I did read the name, but since the list was no longer there, I got confused. I understand now though, thanks. |

Mahou Sensei Negima, this is Ken Akamatsu newest series and it is very similar to love hina. Most of the characters in Negima come form Love Hina and you will quickly pick up witch ones for each character, Asuna = Naru, Nodoka = Shinobu, etc. Also it is the typical harem series where every one fall in love with the lead male. And at an all girls school that can get funny sometimes.
I would also suggest checking out GTO It is a hilarious comedy about a unorthodox school teacher. It is similar to Love Hina in all the slapstick comedy that is done and crazy events that occur. Also there is some harem aspects to it with multiple character loving the same person but not so much as Love Hina.[/b] |

I don't really mind about the 'everyone loving someone' as much, It's the comedy I'm after. A lot of these recommendations look good, so thanks everyone!
Keep them coming if you know of any more, I'm always interested in reading new stuff. |

If it is comedy, then you should check out Azumanga Daioh. I'm not sure if the strip manga style fits you, so may want to check that out first. It's very light-hearted humor.
Another, is the recently licensed School Rumble. I read the first 9 volumes in Taiwan. Some very funny stuff. |
