I wonder how good the translation quality is going to be. If fan translators get royalty, then it's expected to deliver decent quality as well.

I'm guessing there's a lot of one shots and mini-series in there. It's a big number, don't expect 487 epic titles out of this.

Same here.

With a little luck and some good vibes, I'm hoping to see this plan flourish and the majority of the series made into physical print copies. *crosses fingers*

I think the rough time line they've given us is that groups will start working in late Spring, with finished product coming by the end of Summer.

I wonder if DMP will use this program with some of their own titles. There were a few stalled titles bandied about their last article, they could use this to clear the backlog.

If there are the normal social networking sections at the site, it should be possible for the more cautious to get word from the bolder on the quality of the translations.

But from a quick look at their site, its not "open season" ~ there's an audition process required for each of translating, editing, and layout.

Yes, that's the long teased site Crunchyroll is putting together.

The Digital Manga Guild is more aimed at establishing a workable business model for manga that would have difficulty getting licensed for a regular print run. However, the two sites could be complementary, since it seems likely that DMG could put their more successful titles up on JManga ~ since JManga is clearly crosslinking to all the legit sources of manga that they can.
