Yeah and factor in PS4's doesn't use ridiculous DRM and no always online crap, the downside is I heard that you need PS+ in order to play multiplayer I know this isn't going to get along well with PS gamers that enjoy playing online on PSN for free.
But in the end, the PS4 won this round. Xbox One could be doomed. |

Considering xbox has always charged for paying online, and is 10 bucks more expensive, the psn charge is a meh issue at best.

Yeah, but no one pays $60 for Live. Amazon usually has it marked down to $49.xx, and I see it go for $35 quite often. On the other hand, I've never seen PS Plus discounted, which is one of the reasons I've yet to test it out. Maybe since it's now mandatory for online play, we'll see it getting discounted as well. |

I thought the PS+ was only for online mutliplayer not local multiplayer (aka sitting next to you)? |

With what XOne had done, anything is possible, and everything that you thought was "obvious" no longer can be just that. Since, we all thought that XOne was "Obviously" going to be a good system.... and yet look what happened.

More expensive due to requiring Kinect.
Wonder what would happen to the thousands of points cards I haven't used yet............... Prefer using points since I trust neither Sony nor Microsoft with credit card info if I can help it.
Yeah, like the points cards, I've never paid close to full price for Live neither. Heck, I still occasionally opportune free 3-month offers. |

Uh, right. The PS4 will absolutely use DRM, just as the PS3 and XBox 360 do today. The DRM argument is tired. It's when the DRM isn't intrusive that people tend to forget it's there. As for the "always on", Microsoft did a piss poor job of detailing what it does. I have to give them kudos, though, because what it actually does is a benefit to consumers in the digital age, who fear they can't sell/trade their digital goods. By tying the game to a specific XBox account, it turns the game into a trade/sell option. When it's available, gamers can trade their game online rather than head to Gamestop. The downside of this system is, of course, the inability to play the game that's been sold until another key is purchased. This makes sense, if you think about it. You're not buying a used game as much as you are buying the license to play it, which is automatically done with a purchased game on disk. Those "authorized retailers" will have to access your XBox Live account to ensure you're not trading off the digital file while trying to run and sell the physical disk. Whether or not this new attempt at selling digital files works remains to be seen, and this is why the console needs a daily check-in. Without this check-in, it would be impossible to validate the physical sale from the virtual sale. Oh, and then there's the fact most people are already online anyway, so it's not even an issue except to those who don't have an internet connection at all.
For Sony to have gone this long without payment was rather impressive, frankly. The cost is to increase servers if, you know, everyone* is going to buy a PS4 over the XBox One. *facetious
They'll be too busy relishing in the fact more developers can make games that aren't buggy as hell on a proprietary system anymore. The fact the PS4 returns to normal is huge for fans.
No, it hasn't. Not to me, anyway. Sony has a long list of dirty laundry which has proven to be anti-consumer. Malware and taking away features at the press of a button aren't things which give me a vote of confidence the PS4 will remain as "open" as Sony claims. Within a year, they can easily turn and say, "Now you have to fall into this always on demand or we'll brick your console." Microsoft has this option as well. And that, folks, is DRM at play. You don't own anything you buy anymore. Time to get used to it, licensee. |

Intriguing to me that the price is the same between the U.S. dollar and the euro.

That's what I meant, what do you think I was talking about??
Well the difference is that the Xbox One DRM is too extreme and will piss off many gamers everywhere. |

So did they drop the price of the machine? Because I was just looking at some preorder sites in the UK and both systems were priced at almost $1000 (599.99 pounds). So did they do a price drop or was the high price speculation?

And you didn't even mention that the XBone has inferior hardware specs compared to the PS4, which totally justifies the extra price . . . |

Speculative, at the very least. I find it ironic that we're talking about the same audience who gets pissed off when XBox Live is down. This doesn't sound to me like a group who'll be pissed off their console has to phone home once a day. |
