They are no longer including original illustrations by Buriko, then why there is still a delay? I still think that the LN author has something to do with so many delays. |

Well, it takes time to commission the new art, have it drawn, coloured, finished, sent into design/production, printed, and packaged. The illustration probably has an impact on other aspects of the packaging like the booklet, on-disc menus, etc. This is probably just the normal production lead time that is otherwise hidden. (You don't normally see the first disc for an anime episode until 2-3 months after it airs at the soonest.) |

Two months if we use vol 1 of Yuyushiki (ゆゆ式) as an example. Premiered in 10.04.2013 and went on sale on 6/10 月曜日 of the same year. But if Buriki blew his deadline why they did not use old artwork (as they did) right away? Makes no sense that buriki blew his deadline and still wait for him long enough to delay the release a couple of months ... again, people ain't buying this mainly for the original artwork (unlike other disc releases whose main selling pont were the tickets or other bonuses to use in card games). I wouldn't necessarily say that the original art isn't a key selling point, though, and people already pre-ordered the product with that in the spec. Even though it says "specification is subject to change", to some people this is a big deal (particularly when you're talking about the bonus wallscrolls also having the artist changed). Keep in mind that Japanese anime Blu-Rays/DVDs are pretty much entirely about collector's value; Buriki is a famous and popular artist, and his original art has collector's value in a way that anime art does not. In the end, I'm sure they weighed their options at the time and figured at first that a short delay is all that would be needed not knowing it would come to this in the end.
If Buriki is unable to produce art for the new volume, that could certainly be the reason for a long delay. Worst case scenario, they could change artists, but I'm sure they don't want to do that except as an absolute last resort. |

That is what does notmake sense, they got two scenarios: 1) Use old buriki illustrations and miff a few undecided buyers 2) Delay the whole thing two more months (which is the amount of time they would give buriki to do the illustrations, no sense in announcing it two months (or two days) after his second deadline expired) and have haganai next compete with the disc releases from the spring season. It is clear that scenario #2 was too problematic and consider that when someone botches a deadline once, they will do it twice, thrice, etc. |
