At this point, I'm going into "hold the damn events or stop scheduling things you're just going to cancel" mode. Anybody else?

Does anyone else feel like the new laws on child porn about to be proposed also played an influence in this?

There's something wrong with the picture here.
The Japanese authorities, police and investigators, under normal circumstances are more than capable of finding the originator(s) of these threats. I don't believe that they would fail to take this seriously or put their full efforts into the job of finding who is doing this.
We obviously don't have all the facts and I don't think we will for the foreseeable future.
Frustrating.

I'm just saying, but cancelling these events will only encourage more threat letters because it works. The only way to get out of this cycle is to ignore the threats and hold the events with extra security.

Exactly what I'm thinking, if you cancelled the event, the guy who send the threatening letters win, and that give this person more power. It would be like US not going to Afghanistan after 9/11. Also what's up with the police not taking any real action, and extra security would've really help a lot.

Okay, Now that I've found out just what's the issue with this I can very well see why the police aren't pushing any investigations further now. They simply aren't going to waste man-power, payroll, and resources to save a smutty yoei doujin. So all who are wailing and lamenting. It sucks to be you. (no pun intended)

Alternatively, they should just call the threat's bluff, because more than likely if you are going to attack someone you aren't going to anounce the attack ahead of time, especialy if it is weeks in advance of an event.

I am so sick and tired of this, and I don't even watch this anime! Someone needs to find who is doing this and stop them. Every time I see a new report on this, it just makes me more mad. Cancelling these events only make it worse in the long-run.

I don't think it's just one person doing this. It's become a meme at this point.

They should just stop announcing events if they're just going to cancel it

This is why I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing will happen to Free! ("Swimming Anime") doujin events considering how the male otaku reacted. Honestly, I don't care for any of these events, but it just seems awful that some people's fun gets ruined just because one person is being a big jerk.
