First off, I'd just like to say hello, as I'm new to the forums, and I'd also like give thanks before hand to anyone who can help me with this question.

I was at Sakura-Con just this last week, and I found this art book for Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni / When They Cry at one of the shops.

I though about buying the book while I was at the convention, but I decided that if I bought it online, I could get it cheaper. However, when I went home and looked for it online, I found that I had a lot of trouble trying to find a copy online.

I was able to find the book for purchase from the same shop that I visited at Sakura-Con.

http://www.animesekai.com/products/higurashi-no-naku-koro-ni/higurashi-no-naku-koro-ni-illustrations/

However, the book costs $59.00 (as opposed to the $44 dollars that it was offered for at the convention), plus the additional cost of shipping. Now I consider myself a big fan of When They Cry, but I don't really want to pay that much for the book.

I also found the book for $34.95 on this site: http://www.otaku.com/cgi-bin/itemview.asp?itemid=75051l . However, I don't know if this is a legit site or not.

I found a few other sites where I can buy it, but it looks like it has to be imported over from Japan.

So here's what I have to ask

1. Does anyone know if there some other legit site where I can buy this book for a decent price? (Around $40 dollars or under)

2. Does anyone know if the Otaku.com site is legit place to purchase it from?

and 3. Has anybody bought this book? If so, then do you know if it is worth paying over $60 dollars for it?

I would again like to thank anybody who can help me with this problem, and I apologize if I posted this in the wrong thread. I'd also like to apologize if this is a double post, but the first time I tried to create this thread, it didn't process.

I found the art book for $43.25. I have purchased a few items from the people who run the web site in person at anime conventions. They sell a lot of great art books and Japanese language manga imported straight from Japan. However, the item you want is currently out of stock. According to the item listing, it will take anywhere from one to three weeks for the item to ship if you do not mind waiting.

There is free shipping for orders over $40. Here are the details:

FREE SHIPPING on Continental US orders over US$40

Free shipping is only available with USPS media mail within the continental United States. Orders shipped to Hawaii, Alaska, and US Territorial Islands are excluded from this offer. Free shipping will not apply to any order where cancellations or returns reduce the amount of qualifying purchases to less than $40. For orders with back-ordered items, we will not make a partial shipment, rather we will ship after all items are available. We will e-mail you a tracking number as soon as we ship your order.

Thanks for the information on the Higurashi art book. I might pick up one in the near future.

I haven't used otaku.com, but I know people who do. Yeah, it's a perfectly legit site.

I got this artbook at the Kinokuniya Bookstore down in Los Angeles (Little Tokyo). I don't remember the exact price but I want to say $38.

You might be able to find the book through their website : http://bookweb.kinokuniya.co.jp/indexohb.cgi?AREA=03. Site is in Japanese, but it is easy enough to navigate through.

Personally I really liked this artbook, and I look back through it time to time. The art quality is great (well for the most part, it includes some of the lower quality anime art), and there are quite a few "suggestive" pics as well, including a jail-bait Rika for the most part.

Anime artbooks are pretty expensive, so a $30-$45 price range is the norm.

I was wondering that a bit myself. I saw some Higurashi art/fan books on mandrake and they were pretty good prices, just wanted to know if they actually WERE a good price.

There are at least three books I want, the Fan book, the illustration book, and the character analyze book.

I be a hardcore Higurashi fan too =w=
