Good job getting it out by Mid-November (the cutoff date for seemingly ANY anime-turned-game to be released). This time they better not release 3 15-hour games for $50 bucks. Can we learn, people?

I can basically guarantee you that's what they're doing this time. It worked last time, didn't it? |

I had no problem with how the last .hack games were released, personally. I thought it was a good idea, spreading it out like that; it gave more room for developing the game, the characters, and the universe it took place in. it made it feel far more fleshed out than some of the other recent RPGs I've played. because of that I didn't mind spending a little extra money on it.

From what I hear the announcement is after tomorrow's TGS; however I will say this; they did a good job not using dated graphics and somewhat bland in-game music. They threw out a kickbutt trailer that had people going wow. Now what's the story like? Is Cyber Connect fixing the battle system (which became repetitive in 10 minutes)? Do what the other anime-based games were smart enough to do
*COUGHInuYasha:FC,YuYuHakuso:DT,FMAgamesCOUGH!* and price that bad boy at $39. |

I'm a gamer first and an Japanese anime fan second, and as a gamer I'm not paying $50 for 15 hours of repetitive gamplay. Hell, they could've easily condensed the games into 2 30 hour games. Don't get me wrong - I love the series but considering I review games I have to be blunt. They made a potentially great product mediocre. |

YES YES YEESSSS!!! *FANGIRL GIGGLE* The moment I heard about this game and saw the trailer I got excited as I don't know what. Total graphic rehaul, new story, new characters, everything looks amasing. .hack is one of the best series because of the depth of the story. The reason you guys probably hate it is for one of two reason
1) .hack//SIGN 2) the game play .hack//SIGN was pretty boring but the main storyline is in the games. Regardless of the repeative gameplay throught ALL 4 games (and really stupid AI sometimes) the storyline is deep and complex. The fact that .hack is spread through a couple of animes and games that are all connected to each other, and finding those connects is what makes myself and fellow .hackers have a FIELD day. This anime/game series are for those deep thinkers. Ones that are presented clues and are challanged to put those pieces together and solve the mystery. There are alot of "Why" "How" and "Cause and Effect" questions in .hack to solve. It is truely one of the very few anime series that makes you think, and that you have to watch and play and read everything with the subname .hack to truely understand everything. For those of you (and I know there will be) that will say ".hack is as deep as a can" don't a) truely know everything about it. b) probably used to the animes that give immediate satifaction aka fanservice in some form or fashion (not just nudity, but also FAN fanservice) I love alot of other animes besides .hack *cough Bleach*cough* but this animes is the deepest out of all the ones I'm seen. Now I'm happy that it will be released in time for me to add to my christmas wishlist. |

This information IS INCORRECT. The Online ORPG is due out in Japan on November 23rd, 2005. TBA for America .hack//G.U. is scheduled to release in 2006. It's stated at the end of their trailer on www.dothack.com. This is going to confuse a lot of people, which in turn will anger me

It seems dothacker members have already joined.
Anyways, it's obvious it's wrong and fake. Proof: The main character in G.U. is Haseo. Joining him is TriAge Come now, the Kite in the trailer is called Tri-Edge to some but it's not his real name and they call him TriAge? It's already been said that GU will be released in 2006. IGN is a crappy site for info because they love to make up info. Please delete this false release date. |

Actually, I loved dot Hack Sign. It was one of the best series I saw in 2003. I loved the way that the show was 90% conversation yet somehow managed to hold my intrest. It was good stuff. But I couldn't stand the games. The gameplay is just awful, your computer-controlled partners are usually mindless annoying burdens, the graphics are just plain ugly, and the whole thing becomes really repetative really fast. The story is excellent, though, and I might have been persuaded to suffer through the gameplay to see the entire story-if it were sold as one game. But after I finished part one, I just couldn't bring myself to get the second part. I ended up just giving up on the games and buying the dot Hack: Legend of the Twilight DVDs instead (good series, BTW.) No way am I paying $200 for what is essentially a single, average game split into four parts.
Unfortunatly, it looks like Bandai is pulling the same trick with the sequel(s). The new dot hack will have to be a VAST improvement over the first gameplaywise for me to even consider buying what is essentially 1/4th of a game for fifty dollars. Plus, there's no anime lead-in to the story this time around, which makes it even a harder sell for me. |

serisly if you wait just a couple months or so after release the price of the games dropped like a rock. thats how i was able to get all my hack games for around 20-30 a piece.
My problem with the games was the massive grind just wore on for me. The dungeons started to look alike after a while. graned they did a very good job of completing the .hack// story |

IGN contradicted itself: http://ps2.ign.com/articles/651/651082p1.html
Right at the end of the article it states 2006. Using IGN to deter something IGN stated wrong in the first place yay. |

However, several gaming sites confirm the 11/14 release date, and the 2006 thing sounds more like a "limited" edition release of the games. I'm trying to confirm any news out of the TGS on further details.
To this day .hack//SIGN is the only DVD series I have personally bought, and it was the LE edition boxset with the T-shirt, 3 OSTs, plushie, etc. ($70 over eBay, have a pic somewhere). I recorded the series when it premeired on CN's TOONAMI BIG Saturday (before it was moved to Satuday at midnight on the "Saturday Entertainment System") on tape in 2002 and it remains one of my favorite series because it begs the question for gamers like me: What happened if the game was real? If you were trapped in the world, what would you do? So that's not true for me.
I may have been TOO blunt. I wasn't complaining much about it because I played //INFECTION ad nauseum back in the day. I actually didn't finish the series yet (didn't buy Mutation or Quarantine) but I will. My point was with all the real MMORPG's CyberConnect 2 went the cheap route instead of splicing an action-based combat system from them.
Wow. Frankly I felt the deepest plot was in //SIGN and the games tied with //LIMINALITY for second. I don't deny the storyline is the driving force in the games, but I also feel the storyline could have been presented even better. |
