If it was any other studio doing this sausage fest, I'd probably give it a pass, but KyoAni has banked some serious goodwill with me. I'll check it out.

Will still check it out. I haven't watched a swimming anime series in ages.

As a straight male with a swimsuit fetish, it saddens me that there likely won't be any female members joining this club.
I'll probably give it a pass, though I'm certainly not opposed to its existance like others.

The story and characters look pretty unoriginal from the info given, but we'll see if Kyoto Animation can make up for it with their execution. I did like Hyouka quite a bit, so I do have some faith in them.

Zegapain had a swimming club in it which was a big focus initially but of course the Mecha side of things was the main draw. Other than that (and Umishou of course), I got nothing.

The characters sound likable and their designs are aesthetically pleasing. I was planning to watch anyway; I love swimming. That feeling of being suspended as you move through the cool, sparkling water is just awesome.

I lol'ed, how did I know one of first few comments in this thread was going to be a sausage fest comment?
Anyway, I'm not watching it precisely because KyoAni is doing it. They need to stick to cute girls doing cute things (occasionally with a cute guy), and nothing else.

Aw, come on, if you like what KyoAni has done in the past aren't you even a little bit curious as to how they'll handle this material? I know I am.

They don't "need" to do anything.

I'll be on board for the polished staging, character chemistry and generally competent direction... much like... why I was on board for all of Kyoto Animation's other works.

KyoAni is just a shell of what they were in the past, anyway. The only show since the golden era of Haruhi/K-On/Key that I really enjoyed was Chuunibyou. The rest are pretty meh.

We already have two threads devoted to people bitching about Free and/or KyoAni. Can we have at least one for those who actually want to watch it?
Speaking of, Nagisa looks the most interesting to me followed by Mikoto. I can guarantee you I'll hate Rin.

You not liking their current shows doesn't = them being a shell of their former selves
