Oooo that's sooo cute!!!
Well it can only happen in Japan. What would have really been funny is if one of our astronauts had woken up to the theme in space and didn't know what it was from. |

KAWAII! =^__^=m
Well, it didn't because a) it was in space, and 2) it was recorded in Houston, so there. Oh, and please note that this story would still be ridiculously adorable even if it wasn't the Totoro theme. |

Hate to say it, but the appropriate reply to this piece of "news" is, "So?"

So, they played anime music in space.
The medium is no longer just an international phenomenon, but an interstellar one. That's a pretty big jump. |

It's sentimental, adorable, brings a smile and is totally forgettable. [jab] What, is your heart made from rock or something? [/jab]
Err... not totally. |

That's so awesome! And cute! If I were ever to become an astronaught, the first peice of music I would play in outerspace would definately be an anime song

If you like to actually hear the space shuttle wake-up call with Totoro's "Sanpo" song, NASA thoughtfully provides a MP3 or WAV file:
http://spaceflight1.nasa.gov/gallery/audio/shuttle/sts-114/html/ndxpage1.html Specifically, Day 5: http://spaceflight1.nasa.gov/gallery/audio/shuttle/sts-114/mp3/fd5.mp3 Enjoy, and congratulations to the crew of the Discovery for her safe return home! |

and for more Jpop, they also played on day 13: The One and Only Flower in the World" by SMAP
Anyways, it's pretty cool to wake up in space...but how do you konw if it's daytime or nighttime up there if you didn't have the clock |

It'd be good PR for the Disney dvd.

C'mon lin, it's the most adorable thing I've ever heard! Has selling out turned your soul into a bitter black hole of angst and despair? HMMMMM? Also you should get TP to send you to Korea someday so we can do stuff. I know they have no reason to. But they should anyway. :p And did you know KCJS is moving out of the old building and into new digs on the Kyodai campus? And T-Mac is leaving? It's crazy-town in Kyoto! |

"So if you've been listening really close to the wake up music, you might've been able to hear your own children's voice in the choir that was singing." AWW!! XDDD |

So cute, so great! Only someone with a heart of steel wouldn't appreciate that.
