Are you kidding? This is exactly the Gainax we have always known. Keep in mind that we're talking about a studio so 'notorious' that their name has been specifically attached to the concept of animated breast jiggling. The company that brought you Panty and Stocking, Abenobashi, Yoko, and girls in skin-tight mech-controlling bodysuits. I'm hard-pressed to think of a more suitable match...

Agreed. While Gainax is also known for doing high-minded fare, this was a studio originally established by fanboys and has never completely grown beyond that. Nothing about this is out of character for them, and I'm somewhat interested to see how this plays out.

Guess Gainax will just be doing adaptations now. Pretty sad since their original works are what made them stand out as a studio.

All their good people went to Trigger. GAINAX is a former shell of what it once was.

At first I thought it might be kind of fun like Girls Und Panzer which I didn't give a chance when I saw the first episode.
But after checking out the manga, it's freaking girls with airsoft guns not real actual firearms. I can get past the Moe elements which I think is kind of cute as long as they don't over do it, but airsoft has enough posers as it is, do they need a show to create more of them?
The manga gets boring real fast and isn't all that realistic to the real airsoft world so it doesn't even have that going for it.

Agreed.
At least its not their original anime, it would be a sad day if they ever do create something like this.
I am waiting for Gainax next masterpiece, its been like 5 years since Gurren Lagann.

It won't be any time soon. Hiroyuki Imaishi left to start Trigger, and took most of the good people with him. Their big debut series is supposed to be unveiled next month.

Ahem, Petite Princess Yucie! That was a cute show about little girls that didn't have any of the "big name" GAINAX guys working on it (I guess Anno did supervision or something though??) and it still turned out really sweet and sensitive and meaningful, so I wouldn't write this one off just yet!

I'm not sure if I'd called the people behind Inferno Cop the 'good people' of Gainax.

I'm not really surprised that you have no sense of humor, considering that this is you we're talking about, but gosh, you don't have to be so blatant about it.
