I've seen a few episodes of the anime and recall liking it. Without going into spoilers, what are the impressions of the manga? I know it's technically not out yet, but I've seen the book in stores for two weeks now.

Looking for a short-to-moderate length series to sink my teeth into. Hellsing, FMP and Saikano are fine and all, but they don't come out fast enough for me Very Happy

So, which one were you talking about, anime or manga? If you want to ask more about its anime version, please use the respective forum.

Damn, made a typo. I meant impressions of the manga. Sorry. Fixed it.

I've watched the entire anime series and read the first volume of manga. Although the manga contains more details (for the specific story arc), the character design was not as clean and cute as the anime version, and the story is a bit more like traditional fighting with sword-and-sorcery stuff, which means less character development. Judging from volume 1, it's inferior than the anime counterpart. Hopefully it will get better in later volumes.

First came the novels, then AFAIK the manga and a bit later the anime. I would also agree with the assessment that the anime is superior to the manga. The art in the manga is not as good and the story seems more conventional. However, it's interesting to note that the manga apparently had a heavy influence on character designs in the anime (though it's possible both manga and anime designs came from book covers and illustrations).
