There was an article on ANN a while ago reporting that george lucas, director of the star wars movie series, was opening an animation studio looking to mix Japanese Anime with Live Action.
Could this possibly suggest that Lucas may be looking to mix anime scenes in with live action scenes in Star Wars episode 3: Revenge of the Sith ala Kill bill?

I find it more likely that the purpose is to expand on the limited essay into animation that Lucas has already made with his Star Wars franchise. I refer, of course, to the animated shorts serialised on Cartoon network.

So this means we aren't going to get another season of Droids?

*is disappointed*

As long as we don't get another season of Ewoks, I'm cool with it.

There was an Ewoks cartoon?? I knew about the live-action movie, but I was under the impression that Droids was the Star Wars franchise's sole excursion into animation until Genndy Tartakovsky came along. I was too scared too watch those tapes, even when I was a little kid...

I believe Driods and Ewoks were created about the same time. I could be wrong about that, but the VHS I have of Ewoks came has a preview of Driods as well.

No, George Lucas is establishing an animation studio in Singapore for future animated spin-offs, there aren't going to be any cartoon clips in Episode III.

And until this thread came along, I was only carrying the burden of the knowledge of one of them, being blissfully unaware of the other.

There is no way in hell George Lucas would mix anime into Episode 3 it would totally disrupt the flow of the movie and contradict the style of it. Especially after all the hard work he's done to get the movies just right in his eyes and to make all of them have a similar feel and look the same on dvd.

I've seen the argument made that Star Wars is alternately a ripoff of The Hidden Fortress, Lensman, and The Wizard of Oz, but that's just stupid.

Both sereis started fall of 1985. Droids lasted one season, Ewoks lasted two.

The DVDs for both series will be available in November.

So Lucas was psychic? Yamato was 1979. Star Wars was 1977.

Actually, it's Joseph Campbell, Kursawa's The Seven Samurai and the pulp films of the 30s and 40s that inspired Star Wars.
