The imagery is fantastic. The whole gothic-horror thing is breathtaking. I felt the story seemed too large to tell in 3 episodes, and it ended up moving to fast. I got completely lost.
The music is also to die for. I think it's Yuki Kajiura's (>> Kanno *ahem*) most underrated work. Hoseki is such a beautiful tune. I'll be buying it anyway though. Maybe I'll be able to make sense of the story. Until then, I'd give it a B- Overall.

This is really one of those stories, I think, that is made in such a way where you don't really understand the story as it plays out until it starts coming together in the end. I actually kind of like that manner of storytelling and it's very common in gothic writing, though it does involve a degree of confusion on your first run through as you try to piece it together.

I must admit I wasn't expecting the twist in the 3rd episode at all. It is certainly one of more unique anime I've seen and I actually enjoyed it, the atmosphere and overall feel of it was just done so well.

I watched the trailer and S**T , makes me feel all jittery and gives me some shivers (even if I'm only 15 years old)

Especially in the end of the trailer (English version trailer from Geneon's website), when I saw the girl's eye (or whoever that girl is) come out after that slashed portion of that still painting and when the still painting smiled at the end.

Putang ina! What the hell is with this girl?

Stuck for 250 years in painting (or is it a wineglass) then she was set free and I wonder if all the freaky stuff that she brings will come in.

Again, sorry for my language back there but it just gives me the creeps.

Whooo...

I'm not watching the trailer nor would I want to see this show ever (if ever, I'll watch it, I'm not watching this alone).

I wouldn't say it's scary or anything like that, but creepy? Yes, that it is. Only real downside to the show that I picked up on was what many others mentioned, a good deal of useless characters, especially the deli girl, the anime would have been fine without her.

the soundtrack is honestly Yuki Kajiura's best work to date.

That one's a close call for me, as I love (and frequently play) the OSTs for Noir and .hack//SIGN. It looks this one is going to be joining them soon, though.

Keonyn: yeah, that episode 3 plot twist was a doozy, wasn't it? The way things were going, I was not at all expecting it to suddenly turn around and make perfect sense.

Heh, couldn't have worded it better myself. Unfortunately the fact it doesn't really make much sense until right near the very end may cause some to give up prematurely.

I do also agree with the part of the review about the secondary characters being a bit of a negative. They just seemed pointless, especially the girl from the deli who only managed to make things more confusing. It's not a big deal though, mainly because they just never see much screen time, just the time that is spent on them seems a little wasted.
