I really hope Vertical did not license From the New World manga to test the waters for the novel.
I want the novel, I want absolutely no parts of the manga. But ecchi fanservice is not my thing which the manga decided the award winning story needed. |

I'd have preferred the novel, but I guess it wouldn't sell as well and would require a lot more translation work, being nearly a thousand pages long.
I've never heard of Pink before, but it looks intriguing. I'll probably buy it. |

Wait, that manga in the picture is SSY? I thought it was some artsy drama story, not a moe/fanservice thing.
-edit- Oh wow I just looked it up and its full of naked girls. This has to be a spinoff or something. Last edited by RyanSaotome on Sat Mar 02, 2013 12:14 am; edited 1 time in total |

Heh, that manga cover and my view of From the New World are totally different...
My hopes. Dashed all over the place...
Well, it's a possibility... Don't suppose print titles come in packages as well (like what apparently happens when we get crap anime), do they... |

Nope, not a spinoff. My Award Winning Sci-Fi novel can't have this much underaged lesbian sex! |

Just so no one misunderstands the novel & anime have m/m & f/f relationships that are prominent to the story but the novel and anime don't rely on titilating their audience. |

Fanservice sells.
Well, good on Vertical for getting a little of both. I think a lot of people are already fairly acquainted with the anime (or at least knowledgeable of it), and as much as people seem to love to ignore it...critically acclaimed classics and award-winning manga don't always equate to sales. I'm happy for Vertical, and I'm happy to see the SSY manga licensed. It's more of a light-hearted take on the novel/anime, which still retains a bit of drama. I'm gladly pre-ordering this. I think this is a great move for them, and hope it does well! Pink sounds characteristically absurd. Definitely pre-ordering it.0 |

SSY is the first Vertical release in a long time that I'm going to give a miss. Love the anime, want to read the novel, but the manga is just ... sorry, if I want lesbian porn, there are much better sources.

Another Kyoko Okazaki title, even before Helter Skelter is released? Vertical is already publisher of the year based on this alone. Gonna pre-order Pink as soon as its available.
Really hope both Okazaki titles do well. Would love to see River's Edge released here, too.
Kyoko Okazaki is just as important as Osamu Tezuka, Moto Hagio, Yoshiharu Tsuge, etc. are to manga. Her works are incredibly influential on modern josei and shojo. Moyocco Anno fans absolutely need to check out her work. |

To think, Japan used to be known for sci-fi society!
Pink's a slut literally. Not often we can say that here. |

While I have a very slight curiosity/interest in the Shin Sekai Yori manga, it's not enough to get me to buy it. I'll just wait for an English translation of the novel that'll probably never happen... How much of the story does the manga cover? Is the series complete, a work in progress, or prematurely concluded? ^^;
Pink does sound weird enough that I'll probably order it, if I remember the title when TRSI has their next Vertical sale. |
