I saw that Ghost in the Shell 2 was on sale at my local video store, but I wonder if it's as good as the first one. Did anyone see the second one?

I didn't see the movie myself, but I heard that although it was as good as the first one, the DVD representation was horrible. There is no dub, only a deaf-captioned sub that includes sound effects in the subtitles and such.

The closed captioning subtitles were a mistake. The company that released the DVD was aware of the error and re-published the DVDs with proper subtitles shortly after release.

But, I am waiting for the possible future dub of GITS 2 before I buy it. Supposedly, a British company is planning on hiring the American cast of GITS: SAC to do the dub of GITS 2, but so far I hear that this dub will only be available in Europe.

They wern't the same actors in the movie right? I think, if they are not, that they should get the ones who were in the movie because Innocence is a sequal to the movie, not the TV series.

Apparantly Madman (primary distributor of anime in Australia) have commisioned Manga Entertainment to do a dub. If they do, I hope they use the voices from the movie. The actress that played Motoko was perfect for the movie-ver. of the major.

I went to the Australian premiere screening of Innocence and Oshii was there as well! He's a strange looking guy who's always looking half-asleep look. He spoke really fast and the interpreter didn't translate everything he said. He was also wearing slippers which was kind of odd.

Anyways, Innocence is much deeper and philosophical than the first movie and a hell of a lot weirder as well. It's a must see for any fans of Mamoru Oshii and his adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. I know a lot of people don't like the GitS movie because it was too different from Shirow's manga. Personally I didn't like the manga and thought the movie used the concept much mor effectively.

Well, Richard Epcar has been doing the voice for Batou since the first movie, so I would guess he would do the voice in the English dub of GITS 2. Also, William Frederick did the voice of Chief Aramaki in both the first movie and GITS: SAC, so I would expect him to do the voice in GITS 2. As for Togusa, he wasn't in the first GITS for much time, and he isn't very memorable there. He plays a larger role in GITS 2, so I would prefer hearing Crispin Freeman's Togusa over Christopher Joyce's version.

As for Major Kusanagi, I don't think Mimi Woods is still doing voice acting. At least, she hasn't appeared in an anime title in many years. So, I would guess that Mary Elizabeth McGlynn would have to be the logical choice to do the Major.

I bought a used copy and did it. And that was a while after they started the recall, so I'd assume you could still do it.

GitS 2:Innocence is an amazing movie. its incredibly interesting and deeply philosohpical.

I loved it, even though such a deep movie is hard in subs (because you spend more time reading than seeing whats going on), but I still loved it

That just means you have to watch it more than once.

There's nothing wrong with that. They need some sort of 3-D glasses you can watch with so that the subtitles are more in your line of vision, but sort of transparent or something. You know what I mean! Embarassed

... cool, what's this? I'm pretty interested

Anyway, like some who have been exclamating *which isn't a real word apparently Razz * over it, I think it's a pretty l33t movie

especially the ending, which makes you go:

"Damn, that's brilliant insight, in such few lines"

This is easily my favorite movie
