As I understand it, most of these cannot be sold separately, but perhaps it would help everyone if they could be sold as distinct from the actual DVDs.
This way, price-sensitive consumers can pick what the product(s) they want from the get-go.

While I can understand the sentiment (I'd like some of the bonus items as well, but don't want to buy the series itself), I think having them available outside of the LE boxes or at conventions cheapens the worth of the items. These are special items, that are supposed to be only available through the LE box*. If I've spent the extra money to get these items, on top of the money to support the legal release of the series, I'm not going to be happy when someone can just buy the items by themselves. Especially since, if they want the items, they've probably seen (and presumably liked) the series. And, unless it's a series that has streamed, they've probably watched it illegally.
I would like to see more merchandise available in the US, but I just don't think the market would support it. But I think the bonus items from LE boxes should remain in the LE boxes. *I have seen some bonus items available for purchase at industry booths in the dealers' hall at cons, or given away as prizes at industry panels. Of course, these are being sold directly by the companies, and they're trying to get you to buy their DVDs as well. However, they also have even better things that are only available at conventions, such as my Haruka lithograph that I picked up. |

That would go against the purpose of a free extra. They put those in their to increase the viewed value of the product so that the consumer will want to purchase said product. That being said I wouldn't be surprised if you found a few people who wouldn't mind parting with their extras if that was what you were interested in.
