I got an email stating the following:
Dear customer, As always, thank you very much for using Animaxis.com. Recently we are very sorry to inform you that we have to shut down our website and company for various reasons on the end of this January. We appreciate your business for long time very much. We will dispose of personal information responsibly. Thank you very very very much. Best wishes for your continued good health, happiness, and success. Sincerely yours, ANIMAXIS.COM. Can anyone confirm this?[/i] |

Same here! I just got this yesterday. And when I tested the site today, it was gone. Like... totally gone! Everything!
Even their Twitter account is gone. Has *anyone* heard anything? Like beforehand? Did Animaxis post anything in their Twitter account? This would be a real blow to my shopping! They've been the most reliable and well sorted Japanese retailer that I've had the pleasure to do business with so far! >.> |

I was sad and surprised to see the same notification in my mail
Animaxis was my very first retailer when I started collecting manga and anime figures. I had my first volume of One Piece, first PVC figure and first figma from them! They had so much cool stuff not so easy to find anywhere else, like cups and different anime kitchenware, jewellery, cosplay items, calendars... All my non-figure merchandise came from Animaxis. This is really disappointing and unexpected. I hope someone here or anywhere knows any details on this sad matter. Good buy, Animaxis!

Interesting enough, the *japanese* Twitter site is still twittering happily along, posting links to products that then can't be opened (the links, that is).

That's really strange! Maybe they shut down their foreign sales? But then they'd say so in the letter... Or maybe posts on twitter are generated automatically? But then again, why not stop that automate? I have 2 possible explanations: same as Ravensilver's (serious hack) or this closing was REALLY unexpected, even for them (I don't know why, maybe a lawsuit or something) Anyway it gets interesting

It *is* very strange, isn't it?
I keep getting Twitter updates, and I really don't think they're automated. And the links still don't work. *Someone* must have noticed that, right? I can't imagine anyone suing them so suddenly. Someone on LJ said that they'd looked at the site only a day or so ago, and everything was normal. No notice or anything. Very mysterious... |

I am sure that this is a real shut down, it's a permanent one. Just a few days before they shut down, I still had an unpaid order and they emailed me to ask for a payment because they will be shutting down, and it's not a temporary shut down.
About the twitter account, I don't know why there are tweets from a few hours ago, but all those tweets for "new items" were released a long time ago... they definitely aren't recent releases.. |

But I looked at their website a few days ago and there wasn't a single indication that they were about to shut down! Why should they do this within a few days time? Without even holding a sale, or informing all their customers? It just doesn't make sense... >.> |

Yes there is... but not in japan retail prices. I know of 2 retailers, 1 of which sells official but as well as bootleg, the other one sells it a bit on the expensive side but they are all official items |
