It could be. I think everytime Jinto or Lafiel was done talking about or being around the cat, Samson would talk about his "special recipe," but then fail to mention the key ingredient.
However, I think he cooked either that recipe or something else he thought would've been as good after spoiler[ Jinto was rescued], but I think that cat was still alive and on screen by the end of the series.

Samson's people have strange dietary habits, namely in the variety of animals they eat. Animals other peoples consider pets are fair game for his culture (yes, including cats).
Or at least that's how I remember him explaining it.
