I would just like to say WTF regarding Justice League on Toonami. First of all, its not even anime- is it? Secondly, aren't there only like 10 episodes? Why doesn't CN save their original crap (transformers armada, masters) for Cartoon Cartoon Fridays?
Speaking of that, why is CCF on until 1am? And why is that stuff on all night on week nights? Adult Swim is aimed at "adults", right? Well, how many "adults" can stay up until 2am every night, to see actual new shows?
Kids aren't watching Ed Edd & Eddie at 9p! Why not have AS then?

Most of that rant just makes me head hurt >.<
But I'm just gonna say: Toonami is not meant to be an anime block. It's an action block that happens to show anime. Justice League is a very good action show. That would be why it's on Toonami.

First: Whoever said that Toonami was an anime block?
Second: Adult Swim can only air at its current timeslot because of its restrictions. They can't do anything about it. And they'd rather go after their target audience on weekdays rather than pre-teens who can catch the block on weekends.
Third: The ratings for Adult Swim right now are killing shows like Letterman, Leno, and Jimmy Kimmel.

Whooo boy, I'm going to step through this one...

Like Cassandra said, Toonami was never ment to be an anime block, it's an action block (though that doesn't explain Hamtaro being on it once). Think back, have you ever heard of it called an anime block? Any time it's been catagorized it's always been called "The best in action cartoons", it's never been called the best in anime or anything that would imply that it was an anime block.
Quote: | Secondly, aren't there only like 10 episodes? |
New episodes are on their way if they haven't started already.
Quote: | Why doesn't CN save their original crap (transformers armada, masters) for Cartoon Cartoon Fridays? |
Because Cartoon Cartoons are done inhouse for the most part by Hanna Barbara. Transformers Armada and Masters of the Universe are done on the outside. TF:A and MotU have just as much right being on Toonami as Dragonball Z and Gundam. Those two belong on Cartoon Cartoon Fridays just as much as Yu Yu Hakusho and Cowboy Bebop do. However they have changed the name of CCF to Summer Fridays so that would imply that they might show more than just Cartoon Cartoons.
Quote: | Speaking of that, why is CCF on until 1am? And why is that stuff on all night on week nights? |
Actually it stops and restarts a few times, some shows are shown 3 times in one night. Why? Because unlike some networks, there isn't a Cartoon Network East and Cartoon Network West, there's just one run and that's it. The east coast watches Toonami at 5pm while the West coast watches at 3pm, but in reality we're all watching at the same time. Obviously CN is going to want people everywhere to catch their house producitons (Cartoon Cartoons) so they give it a longer schedule.
So why is it shown all night? Well, if you have a choice between wasting a license (and money) by showing anime all night or showing house productions and old HB animations you own for nothing, which would you choose. Cartoon Network shows that stuff all night because it's theirs and they can do it for free.
Quote: | Adult Swim is aimed at "adults", right? Well, how many "adults" can stay up until 2am every night, to see actual new shows? |
Apparently enough that they haven't pulled the plug on it yet.
Quote: | Kids aren't watching Ed Edd & Eddie at 9p! Why not have AS then? |
Actually kids are, on the East Coast is 9pm, in the West coast it's 7pm. They're wide awake and they're eating this stuff up. Know what else? Adults do to, especially since it's on before such a ratings grabber as AS. You really can't blame CN for showing AS at 11pm since it's 9pm in the West Coast and showing adult animation like that before then would be illegal (as I'm sure our annoying friend Shadowwave would love to tell you all about). For them to show AS any sooner they would need to start a whole new broadcast for the West coast and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

This is a bit off topic, but let me just say that I don't like "The Justice League". Not because it's an american cartoon, afterall I like the X-men and the old Batman animated series. But the artwork of "The Justice League", "Superman", and the new Batman series really aren't doing it for me. It's just way too streamlined looking. And most of the episode plots aren't gripping.

I am not impressed with the Justice League either. The concept has always had potential but, to me, the heroes are still 2-3 decades out of date. Wonder Woman is as unempowered as ever, requiring frequent rescuing by the male heroes, and Batman is the only one who is given a "brain" to figure anything out.

I feel Toonami, while not stated as being a anime block, is setup as a Japanime block.
I was disappointed in Toonami pulling G-Gundam only because I had not seen whether Domon rescued Rain.
And as for Justice League being put in Toonami I actually like it and feel that while it is not Japanese anime but it could be considered anime and maybe this is an attempt to put a good american animation title in with Japanime titles to give it some recognition.
I could be wrong but it seems CN is mixing more Japanime in with their regular scheduling to give a better mix of variety.
When you consider how many Japanese naime shows are broadcast in a 24 hour period on CN it seems they take japanime very seriously and are moving more in. I think a mix of good american anime and cartoons and japanime will be a good thing.

wooo- sorry bout that rant there, all
Justice League isn't a bad show, in fact, I was excited to see it when it was announced. I'm just going to go crazy if I see "War World" 1 more time. This might have been a better slot for Xmen - now that was a show I liked.

I just want to see that last arc about the golden age heroes. I totally missed out on it both when they premiered it as a movie and recently when they rebroadcast it in parts from the old evening time slot.

Evolution of the old school Fox Kids Xmen because IMHO Evolution sucks. I wish CN would air the old Fox Xmen Cartoon that one was cool.

While I agree that the old X-Men cartoon was really good, X-Men: Evolution isn't all that bad. If they could just get rid of that tool Spike (and move away from the high school hijinks) I would be really happy.
A few weeks ago, Evolution had a very good story arc going on with Apocalypse. The original 5 X-Men were chasing after Magneto and his minions trying to stop the rebirth of Apocalypse. GOOD stuff. Of course, they left on a cliffhanger and started over at the beginning of the series.
Now, if they could only get Gambit to leave Magneto's team.

Are the X-men cartoons following the book storyline at all? I remember the old X-men but I haven't seen Evolution. In the old days, before most of us were born (myself included) Rogue was an enemy of the X-men.
I am led to believe, although I am not sure, that Gambit was also, originally, if not an enemy, definitely not a member of the X-men.
