Could anybody here who has bought Funi's re-release of Girls Bravo please tell me if it's still got the shimmery video (esp. around the Japanese credit text) in the OP and ED that they had on the Geneon discs? I'm interested in buying it, but not so much if the video hasn't been fixed. Thank you.

Umm...did you try going to the video tab and finding Girls Bravo and watching for yourself. It's streaming on this website you know as well as Funimation's website. That will probably answer your question. I don't know what I'm supposed to compare my Funimation copy with so I can't tell you.

Kind of hard to compare streaming with a DVD. Also, you don't need to compare anything; are there bits in the OP that shimmer (esp. the Japanese text) on the Funi DVD? That's all I want to know.

Well, the default setting is the English credits where the Japanese kanji is translated and fully replaced.

So does that mean that they still put the Japanese credits on another angle? I did check a bit of the streaming video, and it used the Japanese credits. Again, I'd like to find out what the DVDs themselves do. Thank you.

Dammit eyevocal! I own the Geneon singles, and have never noticed what you're describing until now. I decided to check for myself, and now I'll notice it every time!
Having got that out of the way; it seems to only be with the first episode with the Japanese text, the English credits which are used for every episode after don't shimmer at all. Shimmering text in less than 3 min of 600 isn't enough to warrant a replace-buy for me .

Looking through AoD, there's a user that came to the conclusion that they're just re-using Geneon's work. So no, it seems all the problems Geneon's release had have transferred to Funimation's.

Thanks, King (and sorry, Rancorous, but that did come up a lot upon its original release). Since the post King links to says that it is indeed fixed in later eps, I can only assume that they use the same OP and ED when that changes. One more thing, about the extras: The Geneon discs have more than one clean OP/ED all told. The Funi set makes it read like they have only one of each (their general vagueness at describing extras drives me nuts--and covers up when they strip them off their squeezeboxes). Is that the deal with the Funi version? Sorry for all the questions, but I have to decide on buying this quick, and AoD hasn't reviewed it yet.

lol, I was mainly just being over-dramatic, I wasn't upset or anything .

Hmmm, I don't know about the FUNi release, but given their style, the 2nd OP and ED comes up at the midway point, which might mean that the 1st clean OP and ED will be on the 2nd disc's extras while the 2nd clean OP and ED will be extras on the 4th disc. But, I'm just going by how FUNi has been releasing ttitles with multiple OPs and EDs.

No there is no other angle for it, or if there is my computer's software can't access it which is highly unlikely since my PC is top of line as of a few months ago.

That's sad to hear. So much for my hopes that Funi would revise New Generation's slightly wonky subtitles.
