And Why ofcourse

This topic is meant for us to discuss the character that makes you as an individual feel moe the most. Since there realy is'nt a solid definition of the term I suggest a personal investigation would suffice.

I would also appreciate it if the moe bashers would respectfully post and not start "that argument" again.

Okay now then. My favourite would have to be Yuki Nagato from Haruhi Suzumiya. Relax hold your horses, its her character traits from the OVA The Disappearance that made her VEEERY Moe to me. Prior to the OVA she wasn't but her quiet, shy and some-what 'ignorant' demeanor (mouse in the air anyone) just got me where Im weakest. The fact that she lives alone and does'nt realy have any friends made me just want to hug her. Putting things in more perspective, the Endless 8 just nearly brings me to tears now.
Okay enough of that your turn?

This question is actually meaningless, as well as being tricky. Moe is just
barely equal to "idol" for most people. No one even bother with the
original meaning of moe being "the ideal female character, who one
worship from the deepest part of his heart."

My answer to this questions:
Marvel Frozen (Aura Battler Dunbine)
Yurika Misumaru (Martian Successor Nadesico)
Adette Kistler (Overman King Gainer)
Mei Misaki ("Another", the manga adaption from the novel of Yukito Ayatsuji)

Why?

----------

I don't have a favourite, but Nana and Mayu from Elfin Lied are up there for me. Both are cute girls with tragic histories that they rise above. Both are pacifistic despite the torments that have been inflicted on them, and both need a warm and loving home. Both also have some funny moments, like with the angry money men. Um . . . did I mention both girls are unbearably cute?

I know there are some other girls from other Anime that I'm forgetting right now; their names and faces will come to me.

Honestly, I'm never very partial to the moe-moe characters. It's not that I don't like them, but my favorite characters are always the ones that aren't. If I did have to pick a favorite, I would say...

Ranka Lee. She's moe, but still a well-rounded and realistic character.

My favorite is Nayuki Minase of Kanon, she's been my favorite for many years now. She's such a sweet, gentle, caring, and kind individual. Nayuki moved me the most of all the Kanon girls. I felt she deserved better in both the Toei and KyoAni adaptations of the series.

I'd probably say Matsuri from Strawberry Marshmallow; pretty much everything she says/does makes me go 'Daaaaaw!'. Really, not liking this character would be like kicking a puppy.

Or maybe that's not really moe, just cute. Confused

Evangeline A.K. McDowell right out of Negima.
I tend to find myself really attracted to the darker types with the secret soft side and the relatively twisted personalities.

The results will obviously be rather out of date, but one of (if not the first) of this forums "tournaments" was on "moe" characters:

Two of my favorite characters from some relatively recent series:
Airi from Queen's Blade
http://myanimelist.net/character/21733/Airi
Sengoku Nadeko from Bakemonogatari
http://myanimelist.net/character/22050/Nadeko_Sengoku

Airi gets the short of end the stick a lot, especially in the second season. For an antagonist who eats souls, she has a very respectable personality; she's incredibly thoughtful and generous. Then there's that awesome scythe. She's probably the only character I liked in the whole series.

Nadeko is very quiet, but respectful, kind, and selfless. To avoid having to use spoilers, I'll just say she had to put up with a lot of struggle she didn't deserve. That outfit with the hat is also just excellent. She's a great supporting character from an incredible anime.

In virtue of the notable and almost paradigmatic manner in which her arc draws to a conclusion, I am inclined to declare my favourite applicable character to be Makoto Sawatari from Kanon .

Of course, one cannot cite any behavioural virtues of hers that lead me to favour such a character, but these "missing" virtues are not obvious sources of a typical moe response, as I like to apply the word. (Some may conversely expect to see certain personal merits such as strength of will and courageousness in the characters they view, though I am happy to do without such expectations.)

The real causal antecedents of this preference are Makoto's circumstances and fate, as frank and unoriginal as such an admission may be. One could, of course, declare her to be a mere vehicle of catharsis in view of this basic explanation. Those who wish to use such terms may do so, for I have little reason to contest them — I do not deny that much can be said of the manner in which Ishihara and his colleagues use their characters to affect their audiences. Unlike certain critics, however, neither do I dislike the relevant series and characters as a result of this awareness. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Well, it's hard to say, since there are so many.

One of my favorites is stern, moralistic characters. Like Gertrud Barkhorn from Strike Witches and Kureha Suminoya from Sora no Woto.

Also, reserved characters like Yumi Kajiki from Saki, Yuki Nagato from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Kotomi Ichinose from Clannad.

That's only scratching the iceberg of my favorites, though.

There are three characters that come to mind for me and they are:

Aria (Sister Princess) - She is just so cute! Her soft voice and quite nature really make her an endearing moe character.

Fuko (Clannad) - Her personality may be way different compared to Aria's, but I find her love of starfish and spacey-hyper personality to be adorable.

Kotomi (Clannad) - She the same spacey tendencies that the other two have.

Yurie Hitotsubashi from Kamichu!

She really has it all. Odd, cute pouty girl with a crush on weird guy, charmingly lazy but with a mostly unselfish desire to make others happy and help them if she can and to top it off a unique talent she is very clumsy with and doesn't quite know how to handle. You really feel want to wish the best for the poor, irresistibly cute and vulnerable young girl.

Taiga Aisaka (Toradora) Simply put it's her being a Tsundre and I don't really even like Tsundre characters that much. But seeing her allow herself to feel love but also keep that kind of hard edge that she had early on with Ryūji makes her that much more Moe. Combined with her smallness and emotional pain make me go into total "I want to take her home" mode.

Post script forgot to add two more first
Illya from Fate/Stay becuese combined with the tragic backstory amzeingly cute features that's what makes her a fviourte and number two...

Hiyori Tamura the unlucky and ocasionally selfloathing Fujoshi from lucky Star again it's the eyes that do it for me combined with her ocsional self laothing for her createing Yuri Doojshnji based on her friends. MAde me want to just keep her safe and maybe write a happy fan faction for her where she get's an happy ending with nice Gary Stu
