Always, always thrilled to see creators revive one of their older series. Wish more of 'em could do this at some point (I'm lookin' at you, CLAMP.) Very Happy

Arina Tanemura is my favorite artist of all time, so this news really made my day.

VIZ, I will be waiting for you guys to announce this license. You can contact me at the regular place (the interwebs).
Otherwise, I will be disappointed.

Hate to be a negative Nancy, but it's just a one-shot guys. There's nothing about her actually re-starting the whole series. (though I'd love to see more I-O-N as much as the next person).

On the plus side, if it is just a one time thing, it'll probably be in a future volume of Sakura Hime Kaden (which Viz has already licensed). Very Happy

This is actually a pretty cool idea, and probably a huge treat for fans of the series. It'd be awesome to see more creators revisit their past works (with reasonable limits, like this one-shot.)

I'm curious about the image though; the two characters look quite different...Is it like an old art versus new (right, left respectively) kind of thing?

Only the picture on the right is drawn by Tanemura Arina, the one on the left is drawn by Sakai Mayu. So they are completely unrelated.

That's neat, hopefully it can get published along with a tankoban sometime. Otherwise, scanslation transfered to iPad.
