That's crazy. Maybe Di$ney's hoping it'll boost sales for the Blu-Ray upgrade?

Okay, I highly doubt that this is actually legitimate. There are links on the side to a bunch of other Ghibli films, and there's no sign of Disney or Ghibli's approval.

Wow. This is a nice surprise.

Also, Patrick Stewart and Shia LaBeouf are in this? Never knew that.

Thats nice of them. I enjoyed this movie. Maybe they think showing it for free will get more people interested in watching it and then buying it. Very Happy

Um, this is great, but... Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the video site say it's been up there for 3 years?

Eh, Roger Ebert treated this as though it were legitimate yesterday. I think people are safe assuming it's A-OK.

There's also the fact that it was posted 3 years ago...

Speaking of which, how has it remained up that long? Confused

I'd also have to agree with that, doubly so with the presentation of the video itself (looks like a dvd rip rather than a direct source) and the fact that it's been up at that link for 3 years now.

EDIT: Bizarre, it seems it's coming to attention because Roger Ebert blogged about it: http://blogs.suntimes.com/foreignc/2010/08/from-the-valley-of-the-wind.html

Okay... so it's just the English dub. How is the English dub? Is it the usual Disney/Ghibli high quality? Theirs are about the only dubs I truly enjoy.

Ebert not only posted it on his blog, but tweeted it twice yesterday. He is a big admirer of Miyazaki and anime.

A few others on Twitter were questioning the legitimacy of the movie on yahoo, too, but not much more has been mentioned. Maybe someone should just as Mr. Ebert about that.

EDIT:
Sorry, not Yahoo -- Google video.

That video looks awfully sketchy, what with the black edge around it and all. As mentioned before, the fact that it's been posted 3 years ago doesn't really help either. Spirited Away is up there as well - I'm sure that's legitimate too. Just look at the amazing spelling in the description. Confused

I fear Ebert might not be aware of the legitimacy of the movie. Just because it has been on there for years without noticed doesn't mean its legit. Perhaps Disney or Ghibli or not aware of it and will take it down once they get around to it.

Hey guys, did you hear this video has been up for three years and Roger Ebert blogged about it? You might have missed that being said five other times. Confused

Thing is... Whether it's legit or not... Google no longer allows user uploaded videos. Even if this is something they just missed while cleaning up it is on their server and on their head if they don't have permission to stream it.

People have been going on about this on Twitter since this morning, so I'm sure at least a few busybodies have reported it to Google by now. If they don't remove it then I'd assume they have permission to stream it.

It's probably legit. After all, how long ago did the DVD come out? Anyone who was going to buy the movie just for a copy has done so already, and those who want BluRay aren't going to settle for streaming video. And it's not like we haven't been seeing other anime appearing legitimately on the Internet.
