I'm excited about this but I have a question I'm currently filling out the form but when it says this

"Would you like to subscribe to TOKYOPOP Takuhai and have it delivered to your home for free?"

do you think that means if you select no they wont send you the free issue at all or they just wont put you on there suscriber list, because no magazine suscribtion has ever been free right?

From the way this sounds, though, it's not as much an independent magazine as a promotional item for Tokyopop manga - kind of an expanded or more elaborate version of a catalog.

*chuckle* So all it really is is like those Viz Sneak Peeks and what not they hand out free at cons, except with some added cowbell and the word "magazine" stapled on the end. It's nice they're making it this widely accessible though, as, like Mikhail said, it's pretty much like a souped-up catalogue.

Hmm... I don't see anything on the page about Canadians NOT being able to subscribe.

Should I pick "other" as my "state" and give it a whirl? Worst comes to worst, all that will happen is that nothing happens. Well, unless it works and it gets through, but Canada Customs perceives the content as being "lolicom".

EDIT: Well, I put in my entire postal code, including the space, in the Zip code field and I didn't get an error message. Maybe they are sending it to Canadians, they just don't want to publicize it because of the increased postal fees.

Who knows. I do know that back around 1997 I was given a free 1 year subscription to PSM Magazine, and I'm still a subscriber to this day. But theya re the only magazine to give away free subscriptions to my knowledge. And those "Bill me later" options don't really count as "subscribing" to a magazine in my book.

Yea, I agree... Although, I do not understand the concept of paying for a manga magazine, when odds are that each month there will be a totaly new set of manga in it... Would be much nicer to have it run serialized manga... I never really liked the sneaks to begin with. Reminds me of how much NewType is an ad for ADV. Hehe, Anime smile.

Well whatever it is, it's a good way to sample or preview the many new unknown TP titles and there's a lot of them that I have no clue about yet and too lazy to read them off the website (one by one).

Thanks for the credit.

I credit people if and only if they contributed to my posting an article.

I never read your forum post (I can't read every post in these forums).

This is the second such comment I've seen this week, I think it's time to update the FAQ regarding submissions.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. I'm gonna be in California til July, so I put in my address here, but after that I'll be back in Canada... So will I be able to switch my address or not? Anime smile;;

Is it just a free first issue or a whole free magazine? If it's always free that's a kick ass deal. I'm not a huge fan of most of the series Tokyopop releases, but a free magazine is cool in my book.

I'm pretty interested in the making of features.

Nice that Tokyopop is actually mailing this to us now, because they've really been terrible about advertising when and where their new sneak peak editions are available. I've only managed to get ahold of two. One edition I got at Suncoast after reading about it on a message board, and another I found by chance at a local anime store (which I almost didn't get because they couldn't believe it was free Rolling Eyes )
