Could still be trademark protection, so best to keep hype in check.

Yeah, won't say anything until I see an official announcement of an Idolm@ster product.

I have a tough time believing they are trademarking Shiny Festa in both Europe and America regions in the same week unless they have some plans. Its probably best not to get my hopes up but I've wanted an Idolmaster game for too long to not get excited over this.

If they do release any of the Idolm@ster games, a Japanese language option would be a must.

Thing is that Namco had did some trademarks for some Tales of games that never came to be, like Tales of VS and Tales of Innocence DS for the US market. Some Tales of game trademarks were fruitful though, so its still a 50/50 thing, so best to be cautious.

That's probably the only way to do it since dubbing it will be mighty expensive.

Exactly. Could be just a protection move on Bamco's part. But, the Shiny Festa games do have the highest chance of being released here though.

Here's the thing - why trademark Shiny Festa and not IM@S 2 or other IM@S games if you aren't at least thinking about a local release? As a pure rythmn game, Shiny Festa is the obvious choice to enter the market with.

May be download-only too, so no discs may justify no dubbing.
Plus, with DL-only, there'd be less scrutiny on the game.

Yeah, it's funny how the music game genre work. DDR games got big in Japan, then rock band games got big in the US, then rhythm games got big in Japan, then dancing games got big in the US.
