Hello,

I am a newbie to this forum. I am wondering what manga should I start reading. I usually watch anime, Naruto is one of the anime I had watch over the pass month. (Too bad it got licensed!). I would like to read a Manga that is some what like Naruto, but better.
Im into the Naruto setting meaning, like the time and year that was in. I don't really care what setting its really in, but im just giving more details so you can get my personality better. Anything with action will be great too. Naruto was something I couldn't stop watching. Now I want a book to do that to me.

One manga title I can recommend for you is Flame of Recca. The setting is modern, but like Naruto it's central theme involves shinobi and ninjas. The series starts off rather shoddy, but by volume four or so the plot really begins to get interesting. The overall atmosphere is much darker than Naruto as well, but I think you'd like it.

Dragonball (MINUS the Z). But if Dragonball is not your cup of tea, Rurouni Kenshin. It has a pretty denect balanced between drama, fighting, and comedy.

I have a lot of friends that really like naruto. And one manga that they say is as good as naruto is Bleach. I read some of it and it has all that action that you have come to like from naruto.

I would also say Rurouni Kenshin is a good one. Another that i have read a little bit of and thought was okay, is Samurai Deeper Kyo.

FMA is a good one. But one thing about it. I would recommend you read all the manga before you watch the show. And if you have already seen a lot of the show, get ready to be a little confused for the manga and the anime are different. Though i could proabably say that about a lot of manga/anime.

I have the first three graphic novels. It isn't as mature a detective comic as Kindaichi Case Files but its still good and rather funny at times. Obviously at almost 50 gn's in Japan already, this is going to take a long time to finish.

What could possibly be better than Naruto?! Shocked
Anyway, Bleach looks pretty good. Maybe anything samurai-ish like Rurouni Kenshin or Peace Maker. 666 Satan is by Masashi Kishimoto's brother!

One Piece is a fantastic manga read -- action, comedy, enjoyable charcters and wonderful art. If you like Naruto, Case Closed, Hunter X Hunter, you probably can't go wrong with some One Piece action.

You can read a review of One Piece volume 1 here.
