Dear Gainax: WHY?!
on the bright side, it's being made by Hiroyuki Imaishi and Yoh Yoshinari, so it can't be THAT bad.

Not quite what I expected, but maybe they'll make the best possible anime one can hope for within the limits of that premise. Or so I'd like to think.

Well.
Okay.
What happened to the Evangelion/Kare Kano/FLCL era of Gainax? Their recent endeavors have seemed way beneath them...

Mmkay, so it looks like they're just doing Shikabane Hime again in 1900s England.

My guess is it's due to Mahoromatic's success. Yamaga said it was the first Gainax show to make a good profit (off the show itself, not just licensed merchandise), so for the sake of business they probably decided to go more in the direction of fanservicey semi-mainstream. Also, Anno stopped making anime. Then he started again without Gainax.

Gone the way of the dodo bird apparently.
I'll wait and see. It might actually be good.

But Mahoromatic was actually a pretty dang good show. At least, it's my personal favorite "fanservice" show because it still had a touching story (even if the end result was obvious since the end of the first episode).
However, given the dismal failure of KonoMini, I don't think it was Mahoromatic alone. Or at least, it wasn't just fanservice that people bought Mahoromatic for.

I don't know, I've loved Re: Cutie Honey, TTGL and Hanamaru Kindergarten.
Anyway, is this that one they said was like TTGL, Powerpuff Girls and Dead Leaves combined? Well with a staff like this, there's something either awesome or stupid to look forward to. Who knows. It's Gainax after all.

Ick, the title totally throws me off....
But it's Gainax, so I'm not surprised if they throw a curveball with this.
