Miyazaki has for years brought us some of the most memorable characters in animation. While it was sad to hear of his retirement, that has now been revoked, and he will continue to direct. I am happy to see him continue to work and I look forward to his next work. I am in full support.

I think it's pretty good news. I'm just hoping it was his own uninfluenced decision, and it's not happening due to some outside force.
Thumbs up. =D

I really enjoy his work and can't wait for more of his movies. However, after a while if you need a break, just take it. Like how blink 182 is now taking an "indefinite hiatus."

This is by no means news. Mononoke was supposed to be his last movie, then came Spirited Away, now Howl. Rather, it will actually be news when he does retire, but at the rate things are going he will be making movies up to his deathbed.

This is like learning that Cher is not retiring after all. Now if only Takahata would get to make a new movie...

:D Yay! I'm glad that he won't be retiring. I Think Miyazaki loves what he does too much to quit doing it.

More Miyazaki goodness = Awesome . And ditto about Takahata. "My Neighbors the Yamadas" was great.

I'm not complaining, although all these fake retirements are getting old...

Well, so is he!
But if Yoshifumi KONDO had not died after making Whisper Of The Heart, I think Miyazaki would have at least retired from directing.

Dont have a go at him for saying he's going to retire and then doesnt - you know yourself when he means retiring he means from directing but still have involvement in making movies (such as doing storyboards for new stories), these movies come out over several years, a lot can happen. Perhaps he's happy to still work as a director or he needs to continue because there's no one else ready to take over.
So yes it is new and yes it is good news.

I just hope that the strenous work doesn't affect his creative ability. Sometimes I wonder if he needs to take a break... I'm also hoping Takahata will make a movie sometime. It's been ages since we had one!
I do hope the next few movies can do better than Howl's Moving Castle though. I don't know how they could screw up the 2nd half of that one.
