Hello Tempest,
It's taking forever to download and sometimes sents out an error message stating that "I'm just too busy! Go away and try later".

It's 09:00 PST, with less than 20 users online (6 registered) and is blazing fast. There were more than 300 users (about a dozen among them were registered) at 24 hours ago. On any given date, there are usually more than 250 users online at 09:00 PST.
This is odd, considering that I've never seen ANN with less than 100 users online at any hour (I've been at ANN for all-nighter). It could be either
1. Guest users stay away from ANN just because of the pending maintenance (unlikely).
2. Those "guests" are actually bugs or corrupted program loops that slow down the performance of the server.

LOL, I didn't know that was the error message it would send out.
Hopefully it will all be fixed with tonight's upgrade.
If it isn't I have to invest in a new server... $$$

Hey, you're right, there are only 25 people online right now, usually I see 300+. There was a long period of down time last night, the Encyclopedia was totally down and the forum kept looping back to the front page. If the low number of members isn't the results of a fixed error then it could be that people just haven't checked back after lastnight/this mornings downtime.

Actually, the reason why you see so few people online is that normally the Encyclopedia is hooked into the phpbb user authentication system but now it's been disconnected. Not having to access the user database for every pageview in the encyc is going to ease up the load on the system, but on the other hand it does mean that no one can submit information to the Encyclopedia. It's just temporary though. And better than not having access at all.

The number of users online usually coutns the forum and the encyclopedia and myanime. Right now though, we've diabled that tracking on the encyclopedia and myanime side, so its only counting the number of people accessing the forum.
We've also limited the number of connections server wide.
hense the lower number.

Thanks for the explanation. However, I don't quite understand why guests are calculated in unaccessable features e.g. My Anime and entry submission? Isn't it adding unnecessary payload to the server, or is it unavoidable due to database structure?
