The timing of the first email question is unbelievable.

This weeks Answerfan seems right up my alley. I'll have to send in an answer.

I have a question, though: If I have an answer to the answerfan and a question for answerman, do I send them separately or put them on the same e-mail?

The Topless Robot article was taking quotes from a fake Nick Simmons Facebook account, he never said those things.

"You won't. The issue is not that the federal government has problems with animated underage girls, it's that they have problems with animated underage girls in gross pornography. If gross pornography doesn't apply to what you're doing with your life, then you're fine."

Well said.

Rule of thumb:

1. Is the character under 18 or look it?

2. Is the character in an explicit sexual situation?

If the answer to either is no you are probably safe.

Yeah. I was kind of annoyed that Brian didn't look into it enough to know that was a troll.

Then I saw the bunny video...

He is forgiven for supplying false information.

Um, the apology is real. It's only the Facebook stuff that was done by a troll.

What distinguishes seriously sicko loli pornography from other kinds of loli pornography?

So, sadly, I'm pretty sure that scenario is likely to happen again. KlockWorx probably wants the next film to open on 2,500 multiplex screens across the United States under the banner of a major Hollywood studio, and since that's not going to happen,

That's retarded. The fucker will have been torrented long before then. Do they not get that shit? They probably already lost money on the first film this way.

I don't think Tite Kubo or Viz are particularly up in arms about this - in fact, I'm picturing them laughing hysterically at this sad failure of a human being, this unremarkable son of a gimmicky aged rock star destroying his entire artistic career so quickly and so spectacularly.

Hey, man. Leave Gene out of this. He still kicks ass. Personally, I told Viz that, if it was smart, it and Shueisha would actually exploit this situation in a future marketing campaign.

Everybody on the internet who might've browsed 4chan once in their life or are thinking about buying Strawberry Marshmallow on DVD seem to think like they're going to be raided by the FBI and tossed into a Gitmo-like gulag for their thoughtcrimes.

Looool the 4CHAN PARTY VAN is coming to visit!

To answer this week's "Hey, Answerfans" question, I tend to buy series that I've previously seen streaming as soon as they arrive at my local anime shop, though I mainly like slice-of-life moé comedies, so the titles that get licensed for physical media for the North American market are getting fewer and farther between. (The last anime DVD I bought was the second volume of Kannagi several months ago, and the next series I'm planning on buying is the second season of Haruhi Suzumiya, unless Bandai announces and releases K-On! within the next couple of months.)

How about a beastiality title featuring lolis? That's what Handley was convicted of.

Really though, you guys seriously need to cut the bullshit fearmongering like Brian said. The air of paranoia you guys are creating with this hypersensitivity is going to make it more likely for the R1 companies to self-censor themselves over the mildest of things when there's a loli involved.

Re: "Hey Answerman"

With manga I buy each volume as it comes out. As it is the volumes come out every 3-5 months so waiting for a better deal could take years and that I don't have patience for.

As for DVD's, I wait until it at least comes out in a boxset. I've been burned one too many times by single volumes that suddenly halt mid release never to be heard from again. At least if I have a boxset, even if it's not the whole series, I know I've at least got a whole season or something.

I get where you're coming from, but I think it's also true that there isn't a clear standard for what's problematic and what's not, since it seems to come down to what a jury decides is or is not prurient and does or does not have artistic merit.

I like the show To Love-Ru. It's distributed in the USA. I don't think it's porn, and I think it has artistic merit (in my opinion it's funny, it plays with anime motifs in a creative way, it has great character designs, it's even genuinely moving at times). But there are high school age characters with bare breasts in it. How do I know someone won't decide next month that it's gross and has no merit?

I really am not trying to perpetuate any atmosphere of fear - that's the last thing I'm interested in doing - but the anxiety is real. What's your take on that?
