When the hell did this happen? We were expecting to turn it over to FMA, and instead found out it was on the last 3 minutes of it. When did CN push everything back half an hour and why?

Fullmetal Alchemist and Ghost in the Shell SAC moved up 30 minutes starting tonight. It's the new time slot. Looks like ratings were good enough to warrant an earlier timeslot for even better raitings. Lance Heiskell FUNimation Productions Representative <and part-time cool dude> |

Eh, I have the episodes of Stand Alone Complex on R1 DVD, so no sweat off my back. Still, a little advance warning would have been nice or something... |

Well, apparently they announced it 3 weeks ago and have done occasional bumps during AS about it. Of course if you only watch FMA and they haven't shown any of those bumps during the airing of FMA you were screwed tonight. Now because they decided not to advertise it more widely, I have to deal with an extremely pissed off wife since she missed FMA tonight, FMA was the only reason she stayed up so late after having to get up a 5:30 a.m. for work. The only good thing to come out of this is that they got rid of that POS Venture Brothers, even the 3 minutes we'd catch before FMA was stupid.

Any changes to the lineup are automatically changed on the website:
http://www.adultswim.com (I'm usually checking it at the beginning of the month because they tend to change things around month to month at times, like today's schedule.) |

The thing is though that we had no reason to believe that they would change the time, especially since it's been at the same time for 3 months. We used to double check it every week, after a while you get used to it and expect it, especially when they don't announce the change during the show itself.

Ah... activating Devil's Advocate mode
If this looks familiar I posted similar sentiments to gauge opinion on [as]. I believe the move was done specially to put Ghost in the Shell: SAC in the PRIME 12 am timeslot, not because of Fullmetal Alchemist. FMA hadn't been doing as well as it had been recently, and GITS: SAC as a more serious show was just suffering at the 12:30 spot. I'd expect them to gain a full ratings point by the move and by the lead-in. I don't think FMA really gains because they lost a great spot and I doubt 18-34 demo is going "YAY, we can watch FMA because it's 30 minutes earlier and we won't fall asleep!". Plus, I would think it'd be real hard for Japanese anime to compete Saturdays 11:30 on cable with what's on already (News, beginning of SNL, middle of MAD TV, Comedy Central stuff like Drawb Together and South Park). Only reason Futurama and Family Guy were pulling in more than 500,000 viewers each was because back in 2001-2002 they fought the news and talk shows . . . and won. Anyway, that's my two cents. I've love to talk to Kim Manning about that. Also askmher if she's trying to lower America's IQ more by continuing to air SM-C. Argh - Advocate for the Devil |

I'm glad TiVo catched the time changed, mostly because I was trying to beat Xenosaga before Tuesday and didn't change it in time. Too bad it has this really odd habit of recording "Wammy - The All New Press Your Luck". I wanted "Lingo".

I'm at Proto Merkavabh as I type, hopefully I'll beat it before I have to review XenoSaga Episode II. And again, ratings don't lie: Venture Brothers owned both FMA and GITS: SAC in the 18-34 demo. |

What's the confusion? Venture Bros. is awesome. So are the two anime in the Adult Swim line-up, but Venture Bros., being a comedy, appeals to a broader demo.

...and I don't have a problem with this at all! BTW, Lance - love you avatar! Eclair is one of my favorite characters, and Kiddy Grade was an awesome series. I'm looking forward to watching Burst Angel when you release it later this year. Keep up the good work, FUNi! |

Well, finally I can get some well deserved sleep before I have to get up so dang early for church in the morning.

Well, I thought it was bumped up since they put Milk-chan on Saturday nights now. The only reason I caught it was because I saw a little "announcement" by that guy in Milk-chan saying something or another during an Inuyasha commercial break last week.
And Tiresias, you/your wife can always catch FMA on Thursday night, although I assume the main point to your wife's complaint was the fact she had gotten up early and stayed up late waiting. I'm constantly skimping on sleep for some reason or another. ^-^;; |

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm elated at the fact that they changed the lineup. I usually fell asleep before FMA comes on Saturday and Thursday, so I was pretty much jinxed!
Now I don't have to worry! Thank you to the wise thinkers at Cartoon Network. |
