I thought I saw a conversation about this recently (I remember Dormcat posting in it), but I can't find it...

Baccano was broadcast on TV as 13 episodes, but episodes 14, 15 and 16 we're released on DVD after the 13 episode TV broadcast.

I haven't watched the series, so I don't know how the story flows from 13 to 14.

Should we leave this as a single TV series with 16 eps, or add an OVA?

Neither have I. IIRC it's not even on TV or DVD here, so I have no idea either (shrug).

The Baccano! extra episodes, though originally released as OVAs, are direct extensions of the TV series and are listed specifically as episodes 14-16 on the American DVD release. Just including a note that they were originally released as OVAs seems fine to me; we've done that with other series, after all.

What do we do with OVA episodes that are inserted into the series on the DVDs? There was an OVA episode on the 4th Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo DVD which someone tried to enter as "6.5". The database doesn't allow episode 6.5 so it was entered as "6. 5." and ended up squished in with the episode 6 data.

English Wiki lists it as ep 6.5 but the Japanese wiki as episode 13. The DVD listings just say "episode 6" and "OVA" and the next disc has episode 7. I don't know where it fits chronologically having never seen the series so I have entered the full details as episode 13. (although the title on the official site disagrees with that on store sites and the wikis...)

There are other series that have OVA episode inserted into the TV series chronology - Sora no Woto looks like it is going to be one for example. If OVA episodes come along out of sequence and the episodes are actually renumbered on the DVDs, is the only way to redeem and re-enter everything?

Also on a related subject - there is a manga chapter of KIDDY GiRL-AND Pure numbered 6.5 which has caused me problems. Should I call it 7 and have every chapter after it mismatched with the actual number on the page or is there some trick to it?

It's been a while since I touched the episode-formatting section of the code, but as inspected the format for episode titles I saw that decimal episode numbers are explicitly allowed... but not formatted properly. So my first reaction was to fix the formatting code, which I did. (I also edited the KIDDY GiRL-AND Pure chapter list to use a decimal point)

But then I realized maybe for the case of Zero no Tsukaima the episode number really should be 13. Ideally the series would have some official numbering scheme, but if it doesn't... is this extra episode more like an omake or more like a previously unaired episode?

In the case fd Zero no Tsukaima I honestly haven't a clue which way it should be, it was more the fact that someone has tried entering it as 6.5 that reminded me of the problem. The Japanese wiki is more likely to be correct IMO since they are more likely to have the actually DVDs to refer to, rather than fansubbed TV rips. For that matter I can't remember whether other decimal point episodes actually exist, or whether they are just invented by fansubbers - it's not something you can easily search for. Actually I can think of one, Code Geass, but again I'm not sure how official that numbering is.
